This freeware package introduces a highly detailed depiction of a Boeing 757-300 elegantly sporting a Thomas Cook (Condor/Thomas Cook) exterior design. Created by the skilled team at Project Open Sky and expertly painted by Ben Hewitt, this release offers enthusiasts a complete layout of the aircraft, covering both visual authenticity and flight characteristics. Though the real-world Thomas Cook was known for providing leisure travel services through its iconic fleet, this virtual addition places all those familiar visuals into Flight Simulator 2004 with faithful precision.

Distinctive Model Attributes

Users will appreciate a broad range of technical refinements and graphical enhancements. Below are the principal aspects:

  • Dynamic Shine: The external surfaces reflect environmental lighting realistically, enhancing immersion.
  • Wingview or Virtual Cockpit: Choose between a wing-focused perspective or switch to a fully functional 3D cockpit.
  • Opening Doors & Cargo Hatches: Access doors and baggage compartments operate with dedicated key commands.
  • 3D Cabin Crew: Flight attendants are modeled in three dimensions for an authentic feel within the passenger cabin.
  • All Standard Animations: Flaps, spoilers, and other movable surfaces animate according to simulator inputs.
  • Realistic FDE (Flight Dynamics Engine): Meticulously tweaked aerodynamic handling that matches real performance data.
  • C32A-Specific FDE: First appearance of these specialized parameters derived from the 757-200 airframe for heightened fidelity.
  • Accurate Dimensions & Specifications: Wing span, fuselage length, and other metrics align with the genuine 757-300.
  • Performance Based on Charts: Core flight profiles closely follow original manufacturer and pilot feedback.
  • Damage Profiles: Detailed coverage of possible wear or impact in critical areas, including wings, landing gear, and powerplants.
  • Engine Variants: Different thrust levels and fuel consumption rates for each engine type, giving more extensive options.
  • Dedicated Gauges: Instrumentation adapted for each engine set, reflecting distinct readouts and behaviors.
  • Configurable Gear Points: Alter gear positioning for either accurate visual alignment or specific handling requirements.
  • Full Operations Guide: Includes speed charts and procedures to guide pilots during all phases of flight.
  • Enhanced Lighting: FS2004-compatible illumination effects that emphasize aircraft surfaces and running lights.

Setup Procedure

  1. Unzip the downloaded file and transfer the contained aircraft folder into your main FS2004/AIRCRAFT directory.
  2. Locate the gauge file and copy it into the simulator’s primary Gauges folder.
  3. Move the relevant effects files into the main Effects directory.

Virtual Cockpit Activation

Those interested in a fully three-dimensional cockpit experience may obtain the virtual cockpit texture (VC texture). To enable it:

Open the aircraft.cfg and, after the line model=, append "VC" (without quotes). This adjustment switches the model reference from the default wingview edition to the virtual cockpit rendition.

Door and Cargo Assignments

For this particular Project Open Sky aircraft, these key commands apply:

PAX Door 1
Shift + E
PAX Door 2
Tailhook
Baggage Doors
Shift + E + 2
Large Cargo Hatch
Wingfold

With its attention to technical detail and graphical fidelity, this Boeing 757-300 freeware from Project Open Sky and Ben Hewitt delivers a thoroughly immersive recreation of the Thomas Cook-inspired jetliner, all packaged for seamless integration into Flight Simulator 2004.
