This freeware package features the timeless Boeing 737-200 for FS2004 in a new and vivid Zip Air paint scheme that includes pink, orange, black, and blue tail variations. Designed for seamless AI traffic integration, this freeware add-on by AI Aardvark (model) and Isaac Reyes (livery) incorporates multiple levels of detail (LOD) to optimize performance without sacrificing visual quality.

Eye-Catching Textures with Retro Charm

The Boeing 737-200, introduced in the late 1960s, remains popular among virtual pilots who appreciate its classic fuselage lines and reliable performance. In this rendition, the aircraft showcases distinctive colors—pink, orange, black, and blue tails—that stand out on airport ramps. These textures work exclusively with AI Aardvark’s foundation files (requires AIAFS9UP.ZIP), ensuring compatibility with the underlying flight simulator models.

Installation Process

Place the AIA_737_200_ALASKA folder into your primary FS2004 aircraft directory. Afterward, assign this 737-200 repaint to your selected flightplans. If you are unfamiliar with adding aircraft to flightplans, follow standard AI traffic injection methods within your chosen traffic editor.

Optional Reflective Model

By default, the installer activates a non-reflective model (model=no_refl) in the aircraft.cfg. If you prefer a reflective look, change this line to model=reflective. Keep in mind that the included texture lacks a reflective channel, so you will see no visual change unless you are using a texture modified for reflection.

Streamlined AI Optimization

Because it is specifically tailored for AI operations, this Boeing 737-200 incorporates six LOD configurations. In practice, the aircraft reduces its polygon count as it moves farther away in the simulator’s view, thereby easing the computational load on your system. This design approach improves frame rates, even when multiple 737-200s rest on the tarmac or line up for departure.

Refined AI Flight Dynamics

The provided flight dynamics seek a balanced approach between realistic takeoffs and smooth landings in high-traffic scenarios. If you want the aircraft to stay airborne slightly longer before touchdown, you can fine-tune parameters in the aircraft.cfg—notably the cruise lift, parasite drag, and induced drag entries. Adjusting these values influences landing “float” and touchdown behavior, especially useful for detailed AI traffic staging.

Developer Credits

Model development is courtesy of AI Aardvark, a group renowned for optimizing AI-friendly aircraft. The vibrant Zip Air livery is by Isaac Reyes, who captured the airline’s modern flair in a detailed paint job.
