This modification brings the iconic Avensa Boeing 737-400 into Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 with a freeware model crafted by FFX Group and a classic livery by Adalberto Pereira. The download package contains a fully operational base model, though it employs the default 737-400 panel and sound from the simulator. The original Avensa airline hailed from Venezuela and operated numerous Boeing 737 variants for domestic and regional routes.
Technical Insights on the Boeing 737-400 Variant
The 737-400 belongs to Boeing’s “Classic” series, bridging advancements introduced between the –300 and –500 models. Its CFM56-3 engines deliver efficient thrust for short- and medium-haul operations. FFX Group designed this rendition in GMax, reflecting precise geometry and detailed animations. Additions cover primary control surfaces, gear retraction, and unique mechanisms tailored to the 737 Classic airframe.

Customizable Sound and Panel Configuration
Although the installer references the default cockpit and audio setup, users may explore dedicated CFM56-3 recordings for added authenticity. According to the developers—FFX Group, with contributions from various real-world N737 recordings—these enhanced sounds reproduce the recognizable hum of the engine. If the resulting volume is loud inside the virtual cockpit, simply adjust engine audio levels in the simulator’s sound options for a more controlled environment.
Interactive Doors and Airstairs
- Main Cabin Access (Shift+E)
- Engaging this command opens and closes the principal passenger entry door. This key combination follows the conventional assignment within the simulator.
- Airstairs Deployment (Wing Fold Key)
- To lower the integrated airstairs, assign a shortcut for “wing fold.” Bear in mind, once the airstairs are extended on a real aircraft, it remains grounded. In the simulator, similarly, the folded wings action prevents flight.
- Canoe Lights (Tailhook Key)
- The 737-100 through 737-500 incorporate retractable landing lights on their flap canoes. In this add-on, choose a “tailhook” key to manage these fixtures, reflecting standard light deployment on the actual Classic series jets.
Development Scope
FFX Group originally began with a 737-500 model during earlier simulator generations. Over time, that endeavor expanded to produce an entire 737 Classic fleet, including –300, –400, and –500 versions, all sharing GMax fidelity and high-resolution texturing. According to Adalberto Pereira, the team intended to refine every wing, fuselage, and engine detail accurately, resulting in an immersive representation within Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004.
Livery and Historical Notes
Avensa, formed as Aerovías Venezolanas SA, once flourished in the Venezuelan aviation market. Their 737 fleet, recognized by a striking color scheme, connected regional and international destinations. This community-created mod ensures the Avensa identity remains visible in the virtual skies for flight simulation enthusiasts seeking an authentic Classic 737 experience under Venezuelan colors.
Installation and Credit
The project is offered as freeware on behalf of FFX Group and painter Adalberto Pereira. You can download it, install it into your aircraft directory, and enjoy a comprehensive dinosaur of aviation technology. The developers’ attention to detail, coupled with the realistic flight model, highlights the extent of their dedication to bringing historical commercial jets like the 737-400 to life within the simulator.
