Does GSX Pro work with MSFS 2024, and how do I set it up?

Adam McEnroe
In short

GSX Pro works with MSFS 2024 on Windows PC. Follow the correct installer, activation, Community link and Couatl checks, plus fixes for common faults.

Yes. GSX Pro is compatible with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 on Windows PC when installed and updated through the FSDreamTeam Universal Installer. It cannot be installed on Xbox Series X|S or PlayStation 5. Select MSFS 2024, activate GSX Pro, confirm its Community link, then test the GSX toolbar and Couatl.

Which GSX version works with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024?

GSX Pro is the compatible product; the older GSX and GSX Level 2 products made for FSX or Prepar3D are not MSFS 2024 add-ons.

Platform or productCompatibilityRequirement
MSFS 2024 on Windows PCSupportedGSX Pro, Universal Installer and Couatl
MSFS 2024 on Xbox Series X|SNot supportedConsoles cannot run the external Couatl component
MSFS 2024 on PlayStation 5Not supportedThere is no console installation route for GSX Pro
Legacy GSX for FSX or Prepar3DNot compatibleUse GSX Pro instead

The Steam and Microsoft Store PC editions use different package locations, but both can run GSX Pro. What matters is linking GSX to the correct MSFS 2024 Community folder.

How do I set up GSX Pro in MSFS 2024?

Install GSX Pro through its Universal Installer rather than copying an old MSFS 2020 installation into MSFS 2024 manually.

  1. Run MSFS 2024 once. Let the simulator create its package folders, then close it completely before installing GSX.
  2. Open the Universal Installer. Allow any offered installer or component updates so that it recognises MSFS 2024.
  3. Select MSFS 2024. Do not select the similarly named MSFS 2020 entry if both simulators are installed.
  4. Install and activate GSX Pro. Complete the licence activation using the details attached to your purchase. Our installer and licence activation walkthrough covers activation failures and missing toolbar components.
  5. Check the Community link. The installer should create or manage the required link in the MSFS 2024 Community folder. Verify the destination carefully if you use a custom Packages location.
  6. Start Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. Couatl should start alongside the simulator, and the GSX icon should appear in the in-game toolbar. Allow the external component through Windows security prompts if requested.
  7. Test at a proper parking stand. Load a supported airliner at an airport gate, set the parking brake and shut down the engines. Open GSX from the toolbar and check that it identifies the airport and parking position.

A mistake we see constantly is an otherwise correct installation linked to the MSFS 2020 Community folder. Installing both simulators does not make their Community links interchangeable.

What should I do after GSX appears in the toolbar?

At a normal gate, use the GSX menu to request each ground service in the required order rather than expecting every service to begin automatically.

  • Connect the jetway or request stairs where appropriate.
  • Start deboarding before requesting catering or cabin preparation.
  • Request refuelling and baggage handling as required by the aircraft.
  • Begin boarding after the aircraft and gate are ready.
  • Close the doors, request pushback and follow the prompts for the parking brake and engine start.

The available options depend on the aircraft, stand and airport profile. Our explanation of the boarding, servicing and pushback workflow covers what each GSX command actually does.

Do I need GSX profiles for MSFS 2024?

You do not always need a separate profile, but the correct aircraft and airport profiles improve door positions, service vehicle placement, passenger routes and pushback instructions.

Only install a profile made for the exact aircraft variant or airport scenery version you use. An outdated or mismatched profile can override working built-in data and cause floating passengers, misplaced stairs, incorrect doors or bad pushback routes. Profiles made for MSFS 2020 are not automatically suitable for the 2024 version of the same add-on.

Use our profile installation and compatibility guidance for the correct Windows locations and checks to make before retaining an older profile.

Why is GSX Pro not showing or Couatl not running?

Most missing-toolbar and Couatl errors come from an outdated installation, the wrong Community link, a blocked external process or a conflicting profile.

  • No GSX toolbar icon: rerun the Universal Installer, update every GSX component and confirm that the MSFS 2024 toolbar package is installed and enabled.
  • Couatl is not running: close the simulator, restart the GSX external component and check whether Windows security software quarantined or blocked it.
  • GSX is installed under MSFS 2020: return to the installer, select MSFS 2024 explicitly and recreate the Community link.
  • Services are unavailable: move to a recognised parking stand, set the parking brake and satisfy the aircraft-state instructions shown by GSX.
  • Vehicles, passengers or jetways are misplaced: temporarily remove the aircraft or airport profile and check for a conflict with the installed scenery version.

If those checks do not restore it, follow our targeted MSFS 2024 GSX troubleshooting checklist before reinstalling the whole simulator.
