Does GSX Pro work with MSFS 2020 and 2024?

Ian Stephens
In short

Check GSX Pro compatibility with MSFS 2020 and 2024, supported PC platforms, console limits, installation differences and common fixes.

Yes. GSX Pro is compatible with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 on Windows PC. It is not available for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 or PS5 Pro because it depends on external Windows components. Aircraft and airport support can still vary by add-on and profile.

Which MSFS versions and platforms support GSX Pro?

Simulator and platformGSX Pro support
MSFS 2020 on Windows PCYes
MSFS 2024 on Windows PCYes
MSFS 2020 or 2024 on XboxNo
MSFS 2024 on PS5 or PS5 ProNo

The console restriction applies even though Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 itself is available on Xbox and PlayStation. GSX Pro uses the external Couatl engine and installer-managed packages, which console versions cannot run.

Do MSFS 2020 and 2024 require separate installations?

Each simulator needs its own correctly configured package link, although both are managed through the GSX installer. Do not copy the GSX folders manually from the MSFS 2020 Community folder into the MSFS 2024 Community folder; that commonly leaves outdated components or points GSX towards the wrong package location.

  1. Update the installer and GSX components before enabling the add-on for either simulator.
  2. Select the correct simulator so the installer creates or updates its Community-folder link.
  3. Check custom package locations if MSFS is installed on another drive or both simulator generations are present.
  4. Start the simulator and confirm Couatl is running before trying to open GSX from the in-game toolbar.

Will GSX Pro work with every aircraft and airport?

GSX Pro can run in both simulators without every aircraft or airport being fully configured. Compatibility with the simulator itself is separate from the quality of an individual aircraft or airport profile.

  • Aircraft: Door positions, cargo doors, refuelling points and pushback behaviour depend on the aircraft configuration. Unsupported or newly updated aircraft may require a custom profile.
  • Airports: Third-party scenery can need a dedicated GSX profile to place stop positions, stairs, vehicles and pushback routes correctly.
  • Jetways: Overlapping GSX replacements and scenery-supplied jetways can cause duplicated or incorrect models. Follow the airport developer's compatibility guidance and avoid enabling two replacements for the same airport.
  • Simulator updates: A major MSFS or aircraft update can temporarily break a working profile without making GSX generally incompatible.

Why is GSX Pro not working in MSFS 2024?

The usual causes are outdated GSX components, an incorrect Community-folder link, Couatl failing to start, or a conflicting airport profile. Update through the installer first, then verify that the link targets the Community folder used by the active MSFS 2024 installation.

If GSX appears in MSFS 2020 but not 2024, treat the two simulator links separately rather than reinstalling everything at once. Our GSX Pro troubleshooting steps for MSFS 2024 cover missing menus, Couatl problems, incorrect links and profile conflicts.
