How do I speed up GSX Pro boarding in MSFS?

Ian Stephens
In short

Speed up GSX Pro boarding in MSFS with passenger density, timing, door profiles and safe sim-rate use, plus fixes for slow or stalled loading.

To speed up GSX Pro boarding in Microsoft Flight Simulator, increase GSX’s Passenger Density setting, shorten the boarding-time value if your installed build provides one, and use every correctly configured passenger door. For the quickest workaround, apply simulator-rate acceleration cautiously. Lower passenger density reduces rendering load but does not make boarding finish sooner.

Which GSX setting makes boarding faster?

Passenger Density is the first setting to adjust because a higher value reduces the spacing between animated passengers. It is separate from the planned passenger total: density controls the flow of people, while the passenger count determines how many must board.

  1. Open GSX before boarding. Park with the brake or chocks set, then open the GSX toolbar menu and its settings.
  2. Raise Passenger Density. Increase it by one step and watch performance rather than immediately selecting the maximum. A dense stream boards faster but places a heavier rendering load on the simulator.
  3. Adjust the timing control if available. Some GSX builds also expose a boarding-time, seconds-per-passenger or speed option. Lower the time value or select the faster mode.
  4. Start a new boarding request. Set the options before requesting boarding; an operation already under way may not adopt every change.

GSX updates have moved or renamed some controls, but they remain within its passenger or timing settings. Our explanation of the normal GSX boarding sequence and aircraft-profile options covers the service order if boarding has been requested at the wrong stage.

How do multiple doors affect GSX boarding speed?

GSX can board faster through several passenger exits only when each exit has a valid route. The aircraft profile must define the door correctly, and the stand must provide a connected jetway or passenger stairs for that door.

  • One jetway: Expect one passenger stream and a natural bottleneck.
  • Multiple jetways or stairs: GSX can divide passengers between usable routes where the aircraft and airport profiles support them.
  • Remote stand: Bus journeys and vehicle positioning add time that passenger density cannot remove.

A mistake we see constantly is opening an extra aircraft door and assuming GSX will use it. An open door without a configured stairway, jetway or valid passenger path does not create another boarding stream.

Why is GSX boarding still slow?

When the passenger flow looks normal but completion remains slow, another loading process is often setting the pace.

  • Passenger count: A wide-body carrying several hundred people should take longer than a lightly loaded narrow-body. Reduce the count only if that matches the planned payload.
  • Aircraft-controlled loading: An aircraft EFB may apply its own realistic loading rate or synchronise payload with GSX. Avoid starting two independent loading processes with conflicting targets.
  • Wrong aircraft variant: A profile made for a different fuselage or door layout can leave passengers using one exit or walking to an incorrect position.
  • Baggage and cargo: Passenger boarding may finish while containers, bags or other departure services continue. More passenger doors will not accelerate those operations.

FlyByWire users should check the A32NX profile and flyPad synchronisation settings. For PMDG aircraft, verify the correct aircraft variant and GSX profile configuration before changing service timings.

Is boarding slow or actually stuck?

A moving passenger count indicates a timing issue; an unchanged count and a stationary queue indicate a blocked path or configuration problem. Check the active door, jetway or stairs and profile coordinates. Correct the obstruction before restarting boarding—raising density only creates a larger queue.

Can I use time acceleration during GSX boarding?

Yes, simulator-rate acceleration can shorten GSX boarding while the aircraft remains securely parked. Increase the rate gradually, monitor passengers and service vehicles, and return to normal speed before closing doors, disconnecting the jetway or requesting pushback.

Very high rates can cause vehicles or animations to fall out of step, especially at a busy stand. If that happens, restore normal rate and allow GSX to catch up rather than repeatedly cancelling the service. Our guide to MSFS simulator-rate controls explains how to change and verify the active rate safely.
