The Google Maps photogrammetry brings real-world building shapes and surface detail into the scene, with coverage focused on the central districts rather than the entire metropolitan area. I found the waterfront particularly rewarding to explore, with Table Mountain framing the city beyond.

The important caveat is terrain dependency: extensive terraforming makes all six scenery sections necessary to avoid ground anomalies. They also provide the terrain foundation required by the developer’s separate Table Mountain RSA scenery. Install All Six Cape Town Scenery Folders

Extract the archive, then copy all six folders into your Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 Community folder:

If extraction leaves loose files and subfolders without their enclosing package folder, create the appropriate folder and place that component’s contents inside it before moving it into Community. Keep each component separate.

Terrain Dependency and Simulator Compatibility

Do not omit any of the six parts. Partial installation can cause ground anomalies because the terraforming spans the package. Keinowaara’s separate Table Mountain RSA add-on also requires all six Cape Town components; without them, its terrain adjustments will not work correctly and can leave a large hole in the mountainside.

This release targets Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. It may also work in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020, but the supplied information does not confirm compatibility or support for that version.

MSFS scenery

Extract the downloaded archive

Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.
Locate your MSFS Community folder

All MSFS add-ons live in the Community folder. Microsoft Store / Game Pass version: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Packages\Community\. Steam version: %APPDATA%\Microsoft Flight Simulator\Packages\Community\. Tip: enable Developer Mode in MSFS to see your exact Community folder path.
Copy the scenery package into Community

Drag the extracted scenery folder into your Community folder. Photogrammetry and large mesh packs can be 1GB+ — ensure you have disk space.
Restart MSFS

Close MSFS completely and relaunch. The new content appears in the Content Manager, on the World Map, or in the aircraft/livery selector.

Keinowaara is a freeware scenery developer for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, best known for photogrammetry city scenery across Finland and the wider Nordic region. Their add-ons replace generic autogen with real-world 3D buildings and street layouts, giving VFR pilots accurate towns and cities where the default MSFS 2024 scenery is generic or out of date.

The catalogue is strongest in Finland, with Tampere, Turku and Oulu alongside detailed Helsinki districts (Pasila, Kalasatama and Merihaka) and the Vantaa suburbs of Tikkurila, Sotunki, Martinlaakso and Myyrmäki near Helsinki-Vantaa Airport (EFHK). Coverage extends to Göteborg and Uppsala in Sweden, Bodø in Norway, Dublin in Ireland and Winchester in the UK.

Keinowaara also produces a series of lightweight "high trees removal" fixes for northern Norway, covering Troms, Senja, Ofoten, Lofoten and Vesterålen. These remove the trees MSFS 2024 wrongly places on bare mountain peaks, restoring the correct look of the Arctic terrain.

All Keinowaara scenery is free to download and installs by dropping the folder into your MSFS 2024 Community folder.
