Located in the northern region of the Seychelles archipelago, this freeware add-on presents an in-depth depiction of the Denis Island airstrip (FSSD) developed during the tenth round of releases by Alpha India Group. It uses high-grade AFCAD (Airport Facility Data) elements to capture realistic traffic flows, accurate parking, and an entirely repositioned runway. Created by the dedicated team led by Kai P. Kamjunke under the Alpha India Group banner, this module is optimized for both Microsoft Flight Simulator X and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004, ensuring a reliable environment for virtual aviators.
Key Characteristics of This Enhanced Airfield
Denis Island Airport features a grass runway situated on a pristine private island. The short field length necessitates careful approach planning and steady aircraft handling. With this add-on, flight simulation enthusiasts can expect:
- Repositioned runway that reflects current geographic data and island contours
- Newly introduced general aviation (GA) parking ramp for easier aircraft staging
- Accurate airport layout that matches real-world operations on Denis Island
Special Guidance and Compatibility
This scenery upgrade integrates seamlessly with the customized Seychelles landclass, but it may conflict with the default island ecosystem. To avoid terrain mismatches, install the aig_seychelles_landclass_fsx_default.zip package. The developers also note that the grass strip design requires pilots to be mindful of takeoff roll and landing distance when operating aircraft that typically need paved runways.
Development Credits
Thanks go to Jon Masterson and the ADE (Airport Design Editor) team for producing version 1.47.07, which allows creative modifications for both FS9 and FSX. Jim Vile’s graphical approach editor remains instrumental in streamlining approach configurations. A special salute to Alpha India Group for their ongoing commitment to improving airport realism across multiple simulators.
