This freeware release introduces a meticulously built Delta Airlines Boeing 757-200 (registration N647DL) designed specifically for FS2004. It provides an authentic air transport experience, pairing the real-world capabilities of this single-aisle, medium-range aircraft with Delta’s historical paint scheme. The entire package, featuring the official Project Open Sky base model and textures skillfully created by Gary Hayes, delivers realistic flight handling, variable engine configurations, and a visually detailed cabin for a convincing simulation session.

Refined Exterior and Interior Modeling

Project Open Sky Base Model: Developed by the talented Project Open Sky team, the 757-200 model boasts carefully matched dimensions and performance data to reflect true-to-life specifications. This configuration merges dynamic shine and high-resolution textures with opening passenger exits and fully animated cargo access points.

Accurate Delta Livery: Gary Hayes has expertly applied Delta Airlines’ livery to match the carrier’s memorable design from earlier eras, ensuring each distinctive logo placement, color tone, and registration marking stands out under different lighting conditions within FS2004.

Wingview and Virtual Cockpit Options: Users can select a wingview-oriented variant or switch over to the Virtual Cockpit (VC) model. The VC provides a three-dimensional view of flight instruments and includes 3D cabin attendants in the passenger area, offering a more engaging in-flight atmosphere.

Flight Dynamics and Engine Profiles

Certified FDE: Realistic flight behavior aligns with input from trained pilots and official performance references, producing reliable handling attributes during all phases of flight. The model incorporates specialized FDE (Flight Dynamics Engine) elements for both the standard 757-200 and C32A sub-variant.

Engine Variants: Different thrust ratings, fuel consumption rates, and thrust mapping are available to simulate unique engine configurations. Each engine choice comes paired with the correct instruments (gauges), fine-tuned to replicate power settings accurately.

Damage Profiles: Areas such as landing gear, flaps, main airframe sections, and engines feature discrete damage modeling. This allows more detailed impact and failure conditions, enhancing the aircraft’s realism under stress scenarios.

Lighting and Effects

All-new lighting enhancements are integrated for FS2004, ensuring that beacons, navigational lamps, and interior illumination behave authentically. Textures reflect realistic shine under various sun angles, while interior lights highlight cabins during night operations in both wingview and VC modes.

Implementation Steps for FS2004

  1. Unzip the download, then move the resulting aircraft folder into your primary “Aircraft” directory in FS2004.
  2. Take the included gauge file and place it in the main “Gauges” folder of FS2004.
  3. Copy the supplied effects into the default “Effects” folder.

Note: To activate the virtual cockpit model, open aircraft.cfg, locate the line that reads model= and add “VC” directly after the equals sign (example: model=VC), which switches from the wingview version to the virtual cockpit layout.

Door Animations and Controls

PAX Door 1
Shift + E
PAX Door 2 (Tailhook)
Typically assigned in the simulator’s controls for tailhook operation
Normal Luggage Doors
Shift + E + 2
Big Cargo Door (Wingfold)
Mapped to the wingfold function keys

By using these simple key assignments, pilots can simulate real-world passenger boarding and cargo loading procedures. Additional VC textures are available if you prefer enhanced cockpit detail, ensuring smooth transitions between cabins and flight decks. This complete freeware package includes all needed files and presents a faithful 757-200 simulation rooted in one of Delta’s most versatile narrow-body jets.
