Editorial

Having never been to Honolulu in the past, I decided to download this remake of the old airport and take the good old virtual tour of the place! This mod is made for both FSX and FS2004 so I decided to try it out on both. What I noticed was that it still looked great regardless, but the rest of the world obviously looks more in line with this quality of design in FSX.7

True to the Reality

With that being said, the entire package does a great job of populating and then authenticating the excellent airport in Honolulu. The photorealistic scenery does a divine job of bringing the whole thing together and making it look truly excellent, adding a high standard of ground scenery that makes the whole thing improve itself almost immeasurably.

One thing that really impressed me, for example, was the depth of detail in even the less populated parts of the airport. Not only does this use 12x12km of coverage but it uses it very intelligently to cover just about everything that you could think of. It also includes the old Fort Island NALF which is a very nice touch – the author, Gottfried Razek, done a wonderful job of making this all come together in a unique and engaging manner.

Exceptionally Detailed

With 1.2m/pix being used for the photoscenery, you can tell the uptake in performance if you use this on a medium level machine. I would recommend coming here with a more high-end machine as it will dull the experience if you find frame rates dropping as soon as it comes into view.

On the highest detail settings and on a strong enough rig, though, this looks AWESOME!

It does a great job of selling the image and realism of the old model, bringing it all together and making something that is both attractive to fly around and attentive to realism. From the placement of the objects and the scenery to how detailed the generic stuff is, this really does a great job of making a fair and honest go at this wonderful airport.

Well for some reason the water around the airport was black. I had to put everything in my "Addon Scenery" folder but even though I manually placed all texture and scenery files in the right spot it still gave me problems. Any suggestions?
