Editorial

I picked up this mission last week, having grown quite bored one night and looking for a challenge. Well, what better challenge than one of a stranded passenger?

Preview screenshot

I decided to hop into the cockpit and take part in this easy mission that is a lot of fun. It’s not exactly that tough to deal with or get through, and is fairly self-explanatory.

With that in mind, though, it’s fairly straightforward. Head along and pick up the stranded passenger, and get them back to safety. The flight, though, is scenic and rather fun and will give you a nice little flight to enjoy.

The best part about this mission is the authenticity of the conditions that you need to face when flying. It will be pretty challenging to work through the mission as you’ll have to fight the weather, a tight landing space and a race against time to get your friend picked up and brought to safety.

However, it’s not exactly Everest. I’ve ran the mission about ten times now and have only failed once. With that being said, I’ve had ten really fun encounters – even the failure was a mission that I’ll remember for some time!

Overall, this is very impressive. It’s a great little mission to spend some time doing if you are out of ideas or just want something new to enjoy. The fine mix of challenges and elements means that, for the most part, you’ll enjoy a mission that’s rewarding and challenging in equal measure.

It might not test you to the level that you want if you are veteran of rescue missions, but it’s by no means an impossibility. This is definitely a mission worth grabbing if you want to try and experience something a little more exhilarating than the average without having to be an expert to get through the mission itself!

Hi Drew;

Really enjoyed your input with the Stranded Passenger via download in the missions.

It reminded me of a flight I did some years ago with an owner of a light aircraft.

But, Please, let me introduce myself; My name is Steve Vette from Western Australia, down under where we fly upside down. Having been a avid aviator from way down and back again. I came across your free and available download and decided to install it on my PC.

The realism of the conditions encountered was something that I encountered only once in my lifetime before.

But first let me congratulate you on a work of art that blew me away and got my old brain remembering things of an era long ago. Now some background on myself. Born in Holland 1943 in a place called Rotterdam. Yes nearly 70 years old, and reasonably spry. Came to Australia in 1960. Took up aviation in 1992 and became an CFI with RA-Aus Instructing people how to fly. And had some great times in the meantime, made some great friends, and some I would like to forget. Took on sim-flying to keep up with the latest trends in aviation and the available missions. Being on a pension the dollar value does not afford to many downloads of any kind.

But to come back to the flight I did some 7-8 years ago included simular conditions in your download, except we had heavy rain (very heavy) instead of snow, for the best part of 250 miles down to 1500 ft agl and getting lower by the minute down to map crawling for our bearings to get to our destination. by following the chart and landmarks we were able to find our destination and landed without any more dramas.

Again thank you for this amazing flight and the joy it gave me. The foul smell came from the cockpit, not the passengers.

Cheers for now.

Steve.

A fine straight forward mission, fun to fly, well put together and entertaining.

THIS IS A LITTLE HARDER TO GET TO RUN , BUT I ENJOYED IT AND THOUGHT IT WAS A GOOD JOB FOR THE FIRST TIME TRYING. IN THE FUTURE WRITE THE PROGRAM SO YOU EXTRACT IT IN THE CHALLENGE FOLDER AND MEMBERS WILL HAVE LESS TROUBLE. I RECOMMEND EVERYONE TO HAVE SOME FUN WITH THIS AND I WOULD PAY $5 FOR IT.
