This classic repaint captures Braniff International’s Medium Blue Jellybean livery from 1968 for the Captain Sim B707-300 series. It pays homage to a distinctive era of color-based branding that set Braniff apart, and it offers an accurate recreation designed specifically for Microsoft Flight Simulator X enthusiasts. Developers/creators Marc Brown have ensured that every detail, from the fuselage texture to the tail markings, reflects the iconic style of Braniff’s vibrant fleet.
Distinctive Features of the Braniff Medium Blue Design
The Boeing 707, introduced in the late 1950s, revolutionized international air travel with its four-engine configuration and reliable performance. This particular repaint showcases Braniff International’s unique Jellybean color scheme: among a series of bright liveries, the Medium Blue variant stood out. Engineers and painters at Braniff worked meticulously to create a set of strong, modern tones. With this add-on, you can appreciate the subtle shading across the fuselage and wing fairings, mirroring those vintage 1960s aesthetics.
Historical Significance of Braniff N7076
By 1968, Braniff International had become known for its creative liveries, part of a larger effort to rebrand post-war commercial aviation. Aircraft N7076 carried one of the industry’s most memorable paint jobs, making it a sought-after collector’s favorite among virtual pilots who research airline history. Bringing this heritage into Microsoft Flight Simulator X invites pilots to relive an earlier era, experiencing the Boeing 707 in its mid-century glory.

Payware Model Requirement
Please note that these textures are intended for the payware Captain Sim B707-300 model, which is not included. You will need to acquire the base package from a trusted vendor, such as SimShack, to experience these highly detailed textures in the simulator. Without the underlying payware model, the repaint alone will not function properly.
How to Install the Repaint
- Extract the contents of the downloaded file into a temporary folder.
- Locate your “CS_B707-300” directory, then copy the texture.N7076 folder into that directory.
- Open the aircraft.cfg inside CS_B707-300, and insert the provided fltsim.X entry. Replace X with the next sequential number following your existing liveries (for example, if the last existing livery uses
fltsim.6
, then this one should appear asfltsim.7
).
Technical Insights
This repaint includes careful attention to metal finishes, window placements, and cabin details characteristic of the Boeing 707-300. The passenger windows align with the airframe’s real-world layout, while the nose cone’s shape and shading give a faithful reminder of the aircraft’s classic silhouette. These refinements aim to deliver an immersive experience during flights, particularly when observing wing views or replaying landings at various airports.
Developers/creators Marc Brown have worked diligently to capture the spirit of Braniff International’s 1960s branding, ensuring that the final textures offer a polished look befitting historical operations. Simply follow the installation steps, load your favorite route, and enjoy a nostalgic journey back to the golden age of jet travel.
