Expert Overview
This scenery for X-Plane 11 and 10 offers a lovingly detailed rendition of 3U2 Johnson Creek Airport, a remote grass strip in central Idaho known for its dramatic backcountry setting. Created by Nils Lips, it accurately depicts the mountain terrain, immersive camping areas, and rustic charm of the Yellow Pine region, making every short-field approach both thrilling and visually engaging.
Drawing on popular libraries such as 3D People, MisterX, and OpenSceneryX, the airport features carefully placed objects, high-resolution textures, and realistic vegetation that enhances the sense of authenticity. During my tests, the bush flying experience felt remarkably true-to-life, with variable weather conditions and narrow flight paths pushing your pilot skills to the limit. It’s an excellent addition for those seeking a challenging yet rewarding slice of Idaho aviation adventure in their virtual hangar.

Johnson Creek Airport is a grass airstrip in Central Idaho three miles south of Yellow Pine, a village in Valley County, Idaho, United States.
The airport is famous for its mountainous terrain, camping (especially under the wing of your aircraft) and also picnic trips to the numerous other small strips in the area. The terrain makes for a great challenge, especially on hot and humid days.
