Expert Overview
This comprehensive scenery upgrade for the X-Plane 11/10 SBRP Ribeirao Preto Airport faithfully recreates Dr. Leite Lopes State Airport in Brazil, offering a realistic rendition of its aprons, taxiways, city buildings, and improved lighting. Tested on both X-Plane 11 and 10, it integrates a refined ortho-photo backdrop to enhance VFR navigation, and for X-Plane 11 users, it even provides ground services like pushback to give that extra level of immersion.
Drawing on decades of virtual aviation expertise, I found the carefully modeled terminal, extended runway, and detailed taxiways closely match real-world data. The mod also includes handy charts straight from the Brazilian aeronautical authority, helping you navigate regional routes with confidence. As a final thought, its combination of authentic city scenery and operational accuracy truly makes this one of the more polished and engaging Brazilian airport sceneries available today.
This is an X-Plane 11 and X-Plane 10 scenery package for Dr Leite Lopes-Ribeirao Preto State Airport (IATA: RAO, ICAO: SBRP), which is the airport serving Ribeirao Preto, state of Sao Paulo, in Brazil. It is operated by DAESP.
It includes corrected aprons, ramps, gates, taxiways, lighting system, city buildings, ortho-photo scenery for the airfield area, and (XP11 only) airport ground services (like push back).
Dr Leite Lopes State Airport was opened on April 2, 1939, and soon after, in 1940, the runway was extended for the first time. In 1996 the whole airport complex received its major renovation in which the runway and adjoining taxiway were extended from 1,800m to 2,100m and a new larger apron was built. In 2006 the width of the runway was enlarged to 45m and finally, in July 2010 the renovation and enlargement of the terminal building were completed. Airlines and destinations include:
- Azul Brazilian Airlines to/from => Campinas/SBKP, Porto Seguro/SBPS, Recife/SBRF.
- LATAM Brasil to/from => Sao Paulo-Congonhas/SBSP.
- Passaredo to/from => Belo Horizonte-Pampulha/SBBH, Brasilia/SBBR, Goiania/SBGO, Rio de Janeiro/Santos Dumont/SBRJ, Sao Jose do Rio Preto/SBSR, Sao Paulo-Guarulhos/SBGR, Tras Lagoas/SBTG.
This scenery was tested and is operational (as of June 08, 2017) in "X-Plane 11.02b2 64 bit", Windows 10 Home. It was also tested and is also operational (as of June 08, 2017) in "X-Plane 10.51 64 bit", Windows 10 Home.
A set of PDF charts (updated as of May 2017) are provided for SBRP/RAO airport. They are official and free of charge, provided by the Brazilian aeronautical authority. You can find them in the folder "SBRP Charts", in this package. These charts are constantly updated by the Brazilian aeronautical authority. Visit them online to download future updates: http://www.aisweb.aer.mil.br/index.cfm?i=cartas (search for SBRP in the search box).
