This repaint brings a regional jet from Jet Link Kenya into your simulator environment, providing a fresh look for the Project Open Sky (POSKY) CRJ-200. Created by developer Sebastian Szucs, this freeware add-on offers a vivid livery for virtual enthusiasts who value unique African airline operations. Though based on an older paint kit originally intended for an early simulator version, this package still delivers an authentic appearance for those wishing to expand their short-haul fleet.
Overview of the CRJ-200 Jet Link Kenya Repaint
The Bombardier CRJ-200 series is known for efficient regional operations, making it well-suited to cover short to medium hops. Jet Link Kenya, a regional carrier once focusing on East African routes, effectively utilized this aircraft model for connecting major and secondary airports. By combining the proven POSKY model with a distinctive Kenyan livery, this repaint highlights the airline’s brand while delivering a lightweight but detailed addition to your virtual ramp.
Key Features
- 32-bit Textures: High-definition color depth, saved without Mip-Maps for brighter clarity.
- Accurate Detailing: Reflects the airline’s aesthetic with attention to fuselage markings and logo.
- Project Open Sky Foundation: Utilizes the well-regarded POSKY CRJ-200 model.
- Simple Integration: Compatible with FSX and should also function in similar platforms (verify with your simulator).
Installation Instructions
- Unzip the “texture.XXX” folder into your Project Open Sky CRJ-200 aircraft directory.
- Open your existing Aircraft.cfg, then copy the repaint-specific [fltsim.X] block from the included readme and paste it into your Aircraft.cfg.
- Replace the “X” in [fltsim.X] with the next sequential number in the file.
- Ensure that “model=” and “sim=” entries match your POSKY CRJ-200’s naming conventions and .air file references.
- Confirm successful installation by selecting the Jet Link Kenya repaint in-sim.
Please note that this download only provides the livery and does not include the base aircraft itself. You will need to find the freeware Project Open Sky CRJ-200 model in the Fly Away Simulation library. Once both components are installed, the repaint merges seamlessly for your short-haul flights.
Additional Notes
This repaint was crafted to provide an authentic visual experience for fans of African airline operations. Developer Sebastian Szucs aimed to refine the old POSKY paint kit through enhanced layering techniques, though some limitations remain due to the kit’s age. Still, it delivers vibrant visuals to enliven your flights around the continent or wherever you choose to travel. Enjoy operating regional routes with this unique Kenyan scheme, and be sure to give credit to both Project Open Sky and Sebastian Szucs for their creative efforts.
