This package introduces a vividly rendered Kenya Airways Boeing 777-200ER for Microsoft Flight Simulator X, complete with authentic paint schemes by Bryan Hobbs and an original base model developed by Melvin Rafi. The conversion work and FSX-oriented refinements were carried out by David Grindele. These efforts combine to offer both visual realism and reliable flight dynamics, all in a freeware release.

Refined Exterior Artwork

Each texture set is crafted to reflect the true appearance of Kenya Airways’ 777-200ER fleet. Photoreal details populate the tail fin, while upgraded engine artwork showcases high-resolution visuals both inside and outside the nacelles. Notably, the port-side underwing registration marks add to the overall authenticity. All color finishes are provided in 32-bit format for a crisp presentation.

Kenya Airways, known as the national flag carrier of Kenya, operates long-haul flights with its twin-engine aircraft. The Boeing 777-200ER variant was employed for intercontinental services, offering exceptional range and payload capabilities. In this add-on, enthusiasts will experience how the airline’s livery highlights the brand’s identity across the fuselage, stabilizer, and engine cowlings.

Technical Improvements

The flight dynamics have been selectively tuned for operation in Microsoft Flight Simulator X. These adjustments include:

• Air file optimizations to enhance stability and responsiveness.
• Configuration revisions ensuring balanced weight distribution and correct fuel capacity.
• Incorporation of A2A 3D Lights and Redux support for those who prefer advanced lighting effects (separate A2A installation required).

All enhancements seek to maintain Melvin Rafi’s original design intent while keeping the aircraft fully compatible with modern systems. The model still retains its signature Meljet qualities, including meticulously detailed openings for the engine compartments (accessible with Shift + E). At airport gates, the jetway animation can be activated with Ctrl + J, thereby syncing perfectly with the fuselage doors.

Underlying Aircraft Model

Derived from the Meljet project, this Boeing 777-200ER offers a wide-body twin-engine layout that was initially designed for older simulators, such as FS2000 and FS2002. Updates for FS2004 existed but required further finetuning for full functionality. Thanks to David Grindele’s modifications, the aircraft can now demonstrate the performance and visual quality that were envisioned when it was first introduced.

Installation Process

1. Extract the included “Aircraft” folder into the “Simobjects/Airplanes” directory of your Microsoft Flight Simulator X installation.
2. Within FSX, locate the MELJET category in the aircraft selection menu, then pick the desired Kenya Airways 777 variant.
3. No additional components are necessary for full functionality, except for the 3D lighting effects, which require a separate A2A 3D Lights & Redux add-on.

Tests confirm stable behavior within Windows Vista 32-bit and Windows XP environments. This release is freeware and designed to function seamlessly as soon as it is installed.
