Fix DCS World cockpit mouse clicks by checking LAlt+C, aircraft type, focus, VR settings, control profiles, mods and damaged files.
In DCS World, cockpit mouse clicks usually fail because clickable-cockpit mode is off, the game window has lost focus, the active control profile is damaged, or the aircraft has a non-clickable Flaming Cliffs-style cockpit. Press Left Alt+C, refocus DCS, then test a known clickable aircraft before resetting controls or repairing files.
How do I restore cockpit mouse clicks in DCS World?
Work through these checks in order, because resetting controls will not help if the aircraft simply lacks a clickable cockpit.
- Confirm the cockpit is clickable. Full-fidelity modules normally let you operate modelled switches, knobs and guards with the mouse. Standard low-fidelity or Flaming Cliffs-style aircraft rely mainly on keyboard and controller bindings instead.
- Toggle clickable-cockpit mode once. The default command is
LAlt+C. It switches between mouse-look behaviour and the cockpit pointer, so repeatedly pressing it can turn the pointer off again. If the shortcut was changed, search the active aircraft's controls for the clickable mouse cockpit command. Select the normal cockpit view, close maps, menus and chat overlays, then switch away from DCS and back. After an Alt-Tab or a click on another monitor, the first click may only return focus to the simulator.
- Check the correct aircraft profile. DCS stores bindings separately for different modules and, in some aircraft, separate seats or roles. Open the controls for the aircraft and seat being flown, search for the clickable-cockpit command and assign a temporary key if necessary. Editing another module's profile changes nothing in the active cockpit.
- Try the correct mouse action. DCS controls may use left click, right click, the wheel, a click-and-drag movement or a guard that must be opened first. Test a plainly modelled switch whose pointer changes when it is hovered over.
- Check the VR mouse option. In VR, enable the option that permits mouse use. Temporarily disable hand-controller interaction if a second pointer is capturing the hotspot, and make sure the desktop DCS window still has focus.
- Test a clean mission. Load a simple mission in a known clickable module and disable cockpit mods, input scripts, overlays and mouse-emulation utilities temporarily. This separates a global input problem from a mission or aircraft fault.
Are all DCS World cockpits clickable?
No. Full-fidelity DCS modules generally have interactive cockpits, while standard Flaming Cliffs-style aircraft use key, HOTAS and controller commands for most systems.

What does the mouse symptom tell you?
The exact behaviour usually identifies the fault faster than reinstalling DCS.

Why does a cockpit switch move but do nothing?
If the switch animates, DCS is receiving the mouse click; the remaining fault is normally aircraft operation rather than mouse input.
Check battery and electrical power, circuit breakers where modelled, guarded switches, hydraulic or pneumatic availability and system interlocks. Some controls also require a right click, mouse-wheel movement or a held input rather than a quick left click. When should I reset controls or repair DCS?
Reset files only when mouse interaction fails across known clickable modules after the mode, focus and VR checks have passed.
Back up the DCS input configuration under Saved Games\DCS...\Config\Input before changing it. Reset only the affected aircraft's bindings where possible; removing the entire input folder also wipes working HOTAS, keyboard and pedal assignments. The precise Saved Games folder name can vary with the installation's history.
