This freeware release brings fresh updates to a classic tri-engine wide-body airliner, presenting an enhanced simulation of the Douglas DC-10 Series 30 Demonstrator for FS2004. Developed by SGA, with a specialized repaint by Frank Idone, this package includes newly refined flight handling, dynamic structural animations, and distinctive Series 30 design details that enrich the overall experience in your virtual flights.
Important Animations and Structural Upgrades
SGA introduces Dynamic Flexing Wings (where the wing curvature varies realistically based on in-flight scenarios), allowing you to witness more pronounced upper wing movement during takeoff, plus subtle oscillations while navigating through unsettled air or conducting firm touchdowns. This feature seamlessly correlates with simulated aerodynamic loads and atmospheric conditions, enhancing overall immersion.
Flight Handling Refinements
Under the guidance of an actual DC-10 pilot, SGA refined the internal flight dynamics to capture the aircraft’s real-world characteristics more accurately. These modifications impact climb rates, approach handling, and thrust responsiveness, making the tri-jet’s performance faithful to the real Series 30 model. It is also worth noting that the extended wingspan and the additional center main landing gear on the Series 30 improved its takeoff capabilities, range, and substantial payload capacity in reality.
Authentic Series 30 Background
The Series 30 variation stood out among DC-10 derivatives thanks to its increased fuel capacity and power output, enabling transoceanic flights for major airlines during its operational heyday. Historical operators, such as Swissair, showcased the DC-10 on revenue services, proving its reliability across global routes. Many carriers also appreciated the optional convertible freighter configuration for added cargo flexibility. Through SGA’s adaptation, these unique traits are represented virtually, allowing sim pilots to relive the original aircraft’s versatility in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004.

Required Files and Installation Steps
This package calls for the base pack (SGA1030.ZIP) to function correctly. Once this prerequisite is in place, users may install the demonstrator aircraft by extracting into the main “Aircraft” folder. For the correct aircraft.cfg configuration, insert a matching fltsim.X entry with the appropriate number sequence, as illustrated below. Adjust these values to fit your existing fleet indexing:

description=Model by SGA, McDonnell Douglas Series 30 Demonstrator repaint by Frank Idone. The Series 30 offered considerably improved payload and range capability with increased fuel capacity and thrust, which necessitated an increase of 10 feet in wingspan and the addition of a center main landing gear assembly. Most popular of all the variants, a total of 206 Series 30s were built, including 27 -30CFs, 4 extended range -30ERs, and 12 pure freighter -30Fs. Unlike the Series 10, most -30s were ordered without the optional lower deck galley to allowed increased cargo capacity. First revenue flight for a Series 30ER was on December 15, 1972 with Swissair. The Series 30CF (Convertible Freighter) was first certified in March 1973 and placed into revenue service in April 1973.

With these additions, you will experience the unmistakable tri-jet layout, extended wing structure, and balanced avionics that define the authentic Series 30 DC-10. SGA’s improvements, backed by real-world pilot input and artistic repaints by Frank Idone, provide a satisfying blend of visual appeal and flight realism that will feel right at home in your FS2004 hangar.
