Enhance your Microsoft Flight Simulator X environment with this precision-crafted repaint depicting VFA-192 “Golden Dragons” in their LINE configuration, faithfully following the appearance of aircraft 164025 as seen around 2008. Created by developer Nathan Havercroft, this freeware livery showcases the squadron’s legacy spanning from operations at NAF Atsugi to deployments on the USS Kitty Hawk and later relocation to NAS Lemoore.

Technical Features of the “Golden Dragons” Livery

The textures are specifically designed for Version 1.4 of the payware VRS F/A-18E Super Hornet, reflecting every subtle detail of the real-world strike fighter. The “LINE” markings portray standard operational colors used by the VFA-192 squadron, including the distinctive tail design and other carefully matched insignia. These updates make use of enhanced resolution to provide sharp stenciling, squadron emblems, and weathering details that accurately represent how the aircraft appeared during its time aboard the USS Kitty Hawk.

Background on the F/A-18E and VFA-192

The Boeing F/A-18E Super Hornet serves as a modern multirole platform in the U.S. Navy inventory, with the “E” variant incorporating significant improvements in avionics and aerodynamics. VFA-192, nicknamed the “Golden Dragons,” has played an active role within Carrier Air Wings, initially operating around Japan’s NAF Atsugi and later integrating into CVW-9 at NAS Lemoore. Their aircraft bore unique markings that honored long-standing traditions, blending both operational flair and squadron heritage.
