This freeware repaint adds a distinctive theme to the well-known Yakovlev Yak-52, incorporating artwork inspired by a real-world Nanchang CY-6A named “Jezebel,” owned by David Strawn. Created as a modification of John Carter’s original model, this package is meticulously updated by Mark Rooks from RSDG Aircraft, blending accurate custom textures with compatibility in Flight Simulator X.

Overview and Background

The Yakovlev Yak-52 (a Soviet primary trainer and aerobatic aircraft) has long served flight enthusiasts with its responsive handling and robust frame. In this package, you will find a specialized livery based on the “Jezebel” concept, which comes from artwork first sported by a Nanchang CY-6A. With this fully operational repaint, you can immerse yourself in the experience of flying an aircraft reminiscent of David Strawn’s real-world plane. The update is credited to Mark “Fire Ball” Rooks, who refined the configuration files and visuals for FSX.

The Included Media

Additional images of the actual aircraft are provided in this package so users can compare the simulated rendition with the real example. Furthermore, a brief reference to “Jezebel” and Mercy Flight is included to acknowledge the original essence of this aircraft’s design.

Installation Instructions

  1. Always back up your existing files before adding new content.
  2. Extract the downloaded ZIP to a temporary folder or your desktop. You should see a folder named “Jezelel” (intentionally spelled as provided).
  3. Copy the “Jezelel” folder directly into your main aircraft directory, typically found at:
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\FSx\SimObjects\Airplanes
  4. Make sure all files are fully unzipped. In the new aircraft folder, confirm you have six critical items: CFG file, AIR file, Model, Sound, Panel, and Texture.
  5. Place any included Gauge files into the simulator’s main Gauges folder for proper cockpit instrumentation.

By following these steps, you ensure the new repaint and configuration files load correctly within FSX.

Additional Remarks

The Yak-52 featured here reflects the original design cues contributed by John Carter, with final textures and FSX adjustments by Mark Rooks. A unique passage from Col. Robert K. Suchke, which celebrates military airborne heritage, is also included. For those curious about these extra references in the package, they highlight the original spirit behind the project, showcasing an appreciation for aviation heritage, community, and creativity.

Enjoy this repaint, and thank you for including this aircraft in your flight simulator library. The combined efforts of David Strawn (owner of the real aircraft’s concept), John Carter (original model heritage), and Mark “Fire Ball” Rooks (modern FSX updates) have brought this project to life for enthusiasts everywhere.
