PSVR2 support is being delivered during 2026 as a free update, rather than being built into the PS5 version released on 8 December 2025. An exact update number should not be assumed unless its release notes specifically list PlayStation VR2 support.

What do you need to play MSFS 2024 in PSVR2?
The PS5 implementation requires the PS5 edition of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, a PlayStation VR2 headset and the free VR-enabled game update.
- Console: PlayStation 5 or PS5 Pro.
- Headset: PlayStation VR2 configured through the PS5 system software.
- Simulator: The PS5 version of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.
- Update: The game build containing official PSVR2 support.
You do not need a separate VR edition or the PSVR2 PC adapter for console use. The adapter is only relevant when connecting the headset to a compatible PC.
Why does Microsoft Flight Simulator still open in flat-screen mode?
The most likely reason is that the installed game build does not yet contain the PSVR2 feature. Owning the headset and the PS5 edition does not make the original launch build VR-compatible.
- Check the installed game update. Make sure Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is fully updated; our MSFS 2024 update instructions cover the usual update and installation checks.
- Update the PS5 system software. The console must recognise and configure PSVR2 correctly before the simulator can use it.
- Confirm the headset works at system level. Resolve cable, tracking or headset-detection errors through the PS5 setup before troubleshooting the simulator.
- Restart after installing the VR update. If no VR option appears after a complete restart, verify that the installed release specifically includes PSVR2 support. Reinstalling an older build will not unlock the feature.
Is PSVR2 setup different on PC?
Yes. Native PS5 support and using a PSVR2 headset with the PC edition are separate configurations.
