Which terminal and gates does United use at MCO?

Ian Stephens
In short

Find the United Airlines terminal at MCO: Terminal B, usually gates 41–48. See where to check in, take the tram and confirm gate changes.

United Airlines uses Terminal B at Orlando International Airport (MCO), with flights normally operating from Airside 3, principally gates 41–48. Check-in and bag drop are on the Terminal B side of the main terminal. Gate assignments can change, so confirm the gate on your boarding pass, in the United app or on MCO screens.

MCO’s labels can look contradictory in Aviation & Real-World Flying references. Terminal B identifies the landside check-in and baggage-claim side, while Airside 3 is the secure gate concourse reached by an automated people mover.

How do I reach United’s gates at MCO?

Start at Terminal B, then follow the airport signs for Airside 3 and gates 30–59.

  1. Arrive at Terminal B. Drivers should follow the Terminal B departures signs and then the kerbside signs for United.
  2. Check in and drop bags. Use United’s counters or complete check-in digitally if your journey and baggage allow it.
  3. Follow signs for Airside 3. Proceed through the security route serving the gates 30–59 concourse.
  4. Take the automated people mover. Airside 3 is separate from the main terminal; United’s usual gates 41–48 are on this concourse.
  5. Check the gate again. Use the airport screens or United app after security because a gate printed earlier may have changed.

Is Airside 3 the same as Terminal B?

No. Terminal B is the landside part of the journey, while Airside 3 contains the aircraft gates beyond security. Both descriptions therefore apply to a typical United departure: check in at Terminal B, then travel to Airside 3 for boarding.

For a domestic United arrival, follow signs back towards Terminal B and confirm the baggage carousel on the airport displays. Do not choose Terminal C merely because an itinerary lists MCO without explaining the airport layout.

Can United use a different gate at Orlando?

Yes. Gates 41–48 are United’s normal MCO range, not a guarantee for every flight.

Airport operations may move an aircraft because of gate availability, delays, maintenance, construction or the aircraft type. A mistake we see constantly is treating a gate from an old itinerary or previous flight as permanent. Our guide to how airports and airlines assign gates explains why these changes occur.

If your boarding pass or an airport display gives another gate, follow the live assignment. The screen at MCO should take priority over a saved terminal map.

How should flight-simulator users place United at KMCO?

For a real-world-inspired KMCO setup, assign United AI traffic primarily to gates 41–48 on Airside 3 while allowing for operational gate changes.

FSX and Prepar3D users wanting revised terminals, parking and airline ramps can use our updated KMCO scenery and parking package. If the airport’s appearance is already satisfactory and only the parking or taxi layout needs correction, the lighter option is an FSX AFCAD with airline-aware KMCO parking.

Keep only one active airport-layout or AFCAD file for KMCO unless the add-on instructions explicitly say otherwise. Competing layouts can produce duplicate buildings, misplaced taxiway markings or AI aircraft parking at the wrong concourse.
