This freeware release pairs a classic Pan American World Airways theme with a sturdy ATR 42-300 turboprop airframe, bringing a retro-jetset feel to your flight simulation environment. The model, created by Francisco Sanchez-Castaner, and the repaint, crafted by David Grindele, showcases an early regional airliner that offers reliable performance for short- to medium-haul routes in FSX.

Aircraft Design and Historical Context

The ATR 42-300 is a high-wing regional turboprop aircraft originally introduced for commuter operations. It features twin PW120 series engines (turboprop powerplants) that deliver steady performance during climb, cruise, and descent. This release pays homage to Pan Am, an iconic global airline recognized for pioneering transoceanic flights, by applying authentic livery details that recreate the carrier’s distinctive branding in a simulated environment.
