This comprehensive package offers a custom Valuair paint scheme for the Phoenix Simulation Software Airbus A320 Pro, meticulously crafted by Roland Ting for enthusiasts who focus on precision and visual authenticity. Created specifically for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 (also referred to as FS9), these textures are designed with close attention to detail, capturing the distinctive budget-carrier aesthetic associated with Singapore’s original privately-owned low-cost airline.

Key Highlights of the Singapore Valuair A320 Textures

  • Accurate Livery Elements: The paint scheme employs the characteristic Valuair branding and logos, reflecting the real-world color palette used by the airline.
  • Optimized for PSS Airbus A320 Pro: These textures integrate seamlessly with the payware model from Phoenix Simulation Software (purchased separately), ensuring proper alignment on the narrow-body fuselage.
  • Tested Exclusively on FS2004: Installation and visual checks have only been verified in FS2004/FS9, offering the best compatibility for this specific simulator setup.

Background on the Carrier and Aircraft

Valuair operated short-to-medium routes within Asia, emphasizing budget travel options from its Singapore home base. The Airbus A320 itself is designed for efficient operations in busy flight corridors, aided by its advanced fly-by-wire control architecture. This model also includes a suite of cutting-edge avionics, such as electronic flight instrument systems and fly-by-wire control laws (which manage inputs from the pilot through computers), resulting in smoother handling and lower pilot workload.

Installation Instructions

  1. Extract Textures: Decompress the provided texture folder directly into the \aircraft\PSSA320 directory within your FS2004 installation.
  2. Configure Aircraft.cfg:
Open the aircraft.cfg file (found inside \aircraft\PSSA320) using a text editor. Then, copy the code shown below and paste it following the last [fltsim] entry:
    [fltsim.X]

  3. Adjust the Entry Number: In the snippet above, replace the “X” in [fltsim.X] with the next sequence number. For instance, if your present file ends at [fltsim.3], change “X” to 4.
  4. Save and Launch: Preserve your modifications, close the file, and then run Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 to see the updated Valuair livery in your menu.

Important Considerations

  • This repaint set requires the payware Airbus A320 model from Phoenix Simulation Software. You must acquire the necessary files from a suitable vendor, such as our payware store.
  • All textures remain freeware, created by Roland Ting, but this package does not include the actual PSS Airbus A320.
  • Ensure you retain a backup of your aircraft.cfg file before any modifications.
