Enhance your virtual hangar with this distinctive Lufthansa livery for the Douglas DC-2, originally crafted by Tim Scharnhop and the Uiver Team X. This premium-quality repaint is for Microsoft Flight Simulator X, yet it requires the payware DC-2 package created by the Uiver Team X, available for purchase from a reputable store such as SimShack. The DC-2 package’s proceeds have been pledged to benefit the Aviodrome, Dutch National Aviation Theme Park and Museum, which underlines a remarkable commitment to aviation heritage preservation.
Captivating Livery for a Historic Twin-Engine Aircraft
Douglas introduced the DC-2 in the mid-1930s as a refined successor to the DC-1, featuring robust twin-engine performance and cutting-edge (for its time) aerodynamic design. The fuselage and wing structure were optimized to carry passengers and cargo comfortably and efficiently, leading to widespread use by many airlines. In particular, Deutsche Lufthansa deployed the DC-2 for various routes, benefiting from its blend of reliable engineering and practical range. This specific repaint, D-AIAS, accurately reproduces a wartime aircraft once operated by Lufthansa during the height of its historic service.
Remarks on the Airline Legacy
Lufthansa, originally established in the 1920s, has maintained a strong focus on modern aviation advancements. During the pre-jet era, the airline often relied on robust piston-engine aircraft like the DC-2 for passenger transport across Europe. The D-AIAS registration marks a notable period in Lufthansa’s timeline, reflecting Germany’s aviation evolution leading up to and during WWII.

Step-by-Step Repaint Installation
Below are instructions on how to apply this repaint. Make sure that you have the payware DC-2 installation ready in your simulator’s aircraft folder prior to proceeding. Always verify paths and file names carefully to ensure a successful integration.
- Extract the dc2X_lh.ZIP archive to a temporary location while preserving the internal folder structure.
- Locate the newly created texture.lufthansa folder and place it inside the Douglas_DC2_X folder found in your Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes directory.
- Open the aircraft.cfg file with a text editor of your choice. Below the final
