This unique repaint brings a bold purple and white livery to the Carenado Cessna 152 within Microsoft Flight Simulator X. Developed by Carenado and repainted by Tom Tiedman, this freeware package requires the payware Carenado 152 model (available separately). It offers two variants: one fitted with wheel fairings and one without. Enthusiasts will appreciate the striking visual update and straightforward installation process described below.
Detailed Visual Additions

The real-world Cessna 152 is celebrated for its approachable flight characteristics, lightweight frame, and reliable Lycoming O-235 engine. The Carenado rendition accurately simulates these traits, and now this repaint enriches the exterior with a distinctive scheme. The included purple and white textures add a modern edge to an aircraft frequently found in flight schools globally, making it a favorite for student pilots and recreational flyers alike.
Texture Installation Steps
- Pick an existing “texture” folder from your Carenado C152 directory and duplicate it into a temporary folder.
- In that temporary folder, replace its contents with the eight included repaint files plus the two thumbnail images. Approve overwriting when prompted.
- Rename the temporary folder to texture.Purple N4080P.
- Copy and paste texture.Purple N4080P back into your main Carenado C152 folder (do not drag and drop, to ensure a clean copy remains).
- Switch back to the temporary directory, rename your new folder to texture.Purple N4080Psc (for the no-fairings version), then copy and paste it into the same C152 folder. You will now have two distinct texture sets.
Modifying Aircraft Configuration
Locate the "aircraft.cfg" file inside the Carenado C152 folder and insert both [fltsim.X]
entries found below. Update “X” to whichever numbers follow your existing texture listings. Then save the file.

Adjusting Thumbnail Visibility
Inside the folder named texture.Purple N4080Psc, remove the file named “thumbnail” and rename “thumbnailWITHOUTWHEELPANTS” to “thumbnail.” Both variants will then appear correctly in the simulator’s aircraft selection menu.
With these steps completed, you can now load Microsoft Flight Simulator X and choose the freshly repainted Carenado Cessna 152. Whether you prefer the sleek appearance of gear fairings or the streamlined look without them, this purple and white design by Tom Tiedman adds a vibrant visual component to your flights.
