This freeware repaint brings Air Berlin’s colors to the Boeing 777-200LR in a fictional interpretation created by Corina Meyer. The package provides texture files for the payware PMDG 777 only and will require the base payware product (available separately) to function in FSX. Although Air Berlin historically operated various aircraft types, they never flew the 777-200LR under registration D-ABSY, making this livery an imaginative take on a long-haul twin-engine design typically known for its extended range and fuel efficiency.

Technical Livery Highlights

Air Berlin, once a major German carrier, was recognized for distinctive red and white branding. This livery preserves that iconic look across the entire fuselage and engines but applies it to the 777-200LR airframe (a [long-range] model variant). Subtle shading and reflective effects accentuate the airplane’s smooth contours while maintaining a realistic sheen throughout the fuselage. The registration, D-ABSY, has been fictitiously assigned to align with Air Berlin’s marking style.

  • Extract the .ptp file from the downloaded archive.
  • Load the PMDG Operations Center, select PMDG 777.
  • Open the Livery Manager, then click “Click to Add.”
  • Search for the extracted .ptp file and confirm the addition.
  • Allow the manager to finalize all processes automatically.

Additional Observations

This particular 777-200LR model excels in range; in real-world aviation, it can cover extremely long routes with efficient twin-engine operation and advanced aerodynamics. While this repaint is purely fictitious, it captures aesthetics many enthusiasts find visually compelling within the Air Berlin identity. Once installed, the livery ensures an immersive experience during any transatlantic or intercontinental flight within FSX.

All repaint work is courtesy of Corina Meyer. Remember that you will need the PMDG 777 base pack, which must be purchased separately from retailers such as SimShack. The final package here only includes these specialized textures. Have a great time exploring every corner of the virtual world with Air Berlin’s striking red livery on Boeing’s legendary wide-body jet.
