This repaint adds a detailed 90th Fighter Squadron livery for the IRIS Raptor Driver payware package, created specifically for Microsoft Flight Simulator X. Developed by S. Peterson, this texture set depicts an operational scheme inspired by Elmendorf-Richardson Air Force Base in Alaska. The package contains .dds files only and does not include the IRIS payware model. You will need to purchase and install the IRIS Raptor Driver separately to use this repaint.

Unique Squadron Markings and Aircraft Heritage

The 90th Fighter Squadron, informally recognized for its historical roots in aerial combat, currently operates advanced F-22 Raptors at Elmendorf-Richardson AFB. This repaint replicates tactical markings and tail codes that honor the squadron’s presence in Alaskan airspace. The output showcases crisp unit insignias derived from the official IRIS paintkit, ensuring high-fidelity graphics that align with real-world reference material.

Aircraft Background

The Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor is recognized as a fifth-generation fighter, integrating stealth capabilities and enhanced avionics. With twin-engines and thrust vectoring features, it excels in air superiority missions as well as electronic warfare and ground-attack assignments. Pilots from the 90th Fighter Squadron leverage these technologies alongside Alaska’s challenging climate and terrain, making the livery faithful to actual operations.

Livery Integration Instructions

If you plan to incorporate this 90th Fighter Squadron repaint within your existing IRIS Raptor Driver installation, follow the steps below. Ensure you back up any files before making major changes, especially to your aircraft configuration file.

  • Copy the texture.Ak146 folder into the main “Raptor Driver” directory (in most cases this folder is named something akin to “IRIS Raptor Driver”).
  • Locate and open the aircraft.cfg file. Insert the following code block in sequence, replacing “xx” with the next available fltsim index:

[fltsim.xx] title=F-22 Raptor - 90th Fighter Squadron #146 sim=Raptor model= panel= sound= texture=AK146 checklists= ui_manufacturer=Lockheed Martin ui_type=F-22 Raptor ui_variation=AK-146 ui_typerole=Twin Engine Jet ui_createdby=IRIS Flight Simulation Software visual_damage=0 atc_parking_types= description=The Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor is a single-seat, twin-engine fifth-generation supermaneuverable fighter aircraft that uses stealth technology. It was designed primarily as an air superiority fighter, but has additional capabilities that include ground attack, electronic warfare, and signals intelligence roles. atc_heavy=0 atc_id=146 atc_airline=RAPTOR

Additional Notes for Enthusiasts

This repaint reflects the best efforts of S. Peterson in adapting the IRIS paintkit to capture authentic squadron textures. While it spotlights the distinctive tail markings and consistent camouflage patterns, it is also optimized to maintain performance in Microsoft Flight Simulator X. Because this project depends on payware resources from IRIS Flight Simulation Software, those components must be installed beforehand.
