description=OA-4M,Twenty-three TA-4Fs were converted to the OA-4M designation for FastFAC (Fast Forward Air Controller) missions in the Vietnam War. Basically, the OA-4M was a TA-4F equipped with A-4M electronics. The OA-4M was revised from the TA-4F airframe to serve the Forward Air Controller mission. Some of the A-4M avionics were incorporated, but unfortunately not the A-4M P408 engine of 11,200 # thrust. They relied on the P-8A engine of some 9300 #s of thrust. They sure could have used that extra 2000 pounds of thrust. Twenty-three TA-4Fs were converted. Argentina has picked up some to go along with their recent buy of surplus A-4Ms.
