Glenview NAS Scenery, Illinois (IL). Originally home to the Curtis-Wright Corporation, the Navy moved into (and subsequently renamed) this airport to Glenview NAS in 1937. By 1993, the base was closed and eventually dozed over. All that remains is the main building complex (converted to a shopping center) and the north hangar (used for fire-fighting). This is another Sharkey attempt to revive closed or unknown airports in the US. By John Hawranick, Jr.
Screenshot of Glenview NAS Scenery.
A couple years back, I ran into a website called "Abandoned and Little Known Airfields" by Paul Freeman. There I saw airports that I had not seen in many years. In some cases, I had only seen their ruins. It inspired me to create these airports in FS. This site has become my inspiration and reference "jumping off" point in a lot of my designs.
INSTALLATION:
All but one file go into /Addon Scenery/Scenery;
AFX_KNBU_ALT.bgl goes into /Scenery/World/Scenery.
That file is a Flatten file that will be needed to - Oh, I don't know... flatten.
ISSUES:
None, other than a framerate drop due to the proximity to Chicago. If you have a beefy computer, this is no issue. ADDITIONAL FILES NEEDED: Dnvrhgrs.zip and knxx2004.zip.
AS ALWAYS:
I hope you enjoy this as much as I. I welcome CONSTRUCTIVE criticism and help. I do this as a hobby and, as such, charge nothing. If satisfied, drop me a line. If dissatisfied, let me know and feel free to delete it or dive-bomb on it.
Acknowledgements:
Paul Freeman - for his extraordinary opus.
The creators and publishers of Instant Scenery and AFX.
The many who have created libraries for scenery programs, especially Jim Donlin and Jim Dhaenens.

Yours in simming,
John "Sharkey" Hawranick, Jr.
