FSX Barra Airport V2 Scenery

Barra Airport V2 recreates Scotland’s tidal beach airfield with accurately placed runways marked by red poles, a custom terminal, parking, and improved landclass where the default layout was incorrect. Built for AI traffic in FSX, it adds custom sand textures plus two ramps for classic Twin Otter-style island hops.

Barra Airport (also known as Barra Beachport) is the unique airport which operates scheduled passengers flights on a beach. You can see British Airways, Flybe planes, (operated by Loganair) land on the sand. It's one of the most dangerous airports in the world. There is a small terminal, a car park, and three runways with red poles to signal where the runway starts and finishes. Flights are operated most of the time in the day, but sometimes you might find a night time flight. It operates when there's low tide; when the wind blows just a bit or there's high tide, all flights are canceled. Usually are operated flights with a DHC 6 Twin Otter, which is one of a very few planes that can land on the sand. The FSX default airport was wrong placed, with wrong runways and in the area of the real airport's place there was a bay. Now all is as right as possible. There are three runways, the airport has a custom terminal, a nice parking lot, and more. This airport was created for AI traffic, and it goes well! It has two ramps for planes. Installation:

  1. Navigate to where you downloaded the zip file
  2. Double click with your mouse on the zip file.
  3. WINZIP should open and show all the files inside the zip.
  4. Use keyboard shortcut 'CTRL-A' and this will select ALL the files.
  5. Click on upper 'Extract' Button in the Main Tool Bar above.
  6. Type in your path in the dialog box, the default location is C:\program files\microsoft games\microsoft flight simulator X or Browse to your FSX Location...Open the FSX main folder.
  7. Now Click on the 'Extract' button in the upper right.....you're done...go flying.

How to install this mod

FSX / P3D scenery

  1. Extract the downloaded archive

    Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.

  2. Place scenery in Addon Scenery

    Create a folder under FSX\Addon Scenery\ containing scenery and texture sub-folders.

  3. Activate in Scenery Library

    In FSX, go to Settings → Scenery Library → Add Area. Higher priority means it overrides lower entries for the same location.

  4. Always read the included readme

    Every mod ships with a readme.txt or README file. It tells you exactly where files go, what dependencies are needed, and any quirks specific to this add-on.

    Absolutely AWESOME!!! This package includes three different aircraft for traffic, and you also can fly them! It includes the DeHavilland dhc-6 Twin otter in the Flybe and British Airways liveries. It also includes the Britten Norman BN-2A Islander in 2 Loganair liveries, British Airways livery, and with a little tweaking with the aircraft.cfg, you can add an ambulance! Also included is the saab 340 in flybe, and BA/Loganair livery, and you can add Northwest Airlink and provincial airlines just by adding some extra entries in the aircraft.cfg! The airport is also much more realistic than the default scenery. The runways are put in the right position, the terminal is added, and the airport is much more realistic! Don't wait, just click the download button!!! :)
