This enhanced repaint collection provides twelve distinct Atlas Air liveries designed for use with the AI Aardvark 747-200 series. Created by David White, it serves Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 enthusiasts seeking both authenticity and optimized performance. It focuses on detailed exterior textures while maintaining efficient AI behavior using multiple LOD (Levels of Detail) models.

Feature Highlights of the Pack

  • Twelve Unique Liveries: Explore various stylings adapted for Atlas Air’s long-haul cargo fleet covering diverse routes.
  • Optimized AI Architecture: The base model by AI Aardvark employs progressive LOD modeling, so your simulator retains smooth frame rates even in busy traffic scenarios.
  • Atlas Air Heritage: These repaints capture the operational aesthetic of an established global airline that frequently deploys the Boeing 747-200 for freight services worldwide.

Implementation Steps and Instructions

  1. Place each texture folder into the “AIA_747_200_GE” directory found within your aircraft library. Remember that Texture.GTI 809 relies on the freighter variant of the 747-200 (GE).
  2. Insert the provided [fltsim.x] data into your aircraft.cfg file. Ensure numbering begins at [fltsim.0] and continues incrementally, avoiding repeated or skipped indexes.
  3. Copy the included night texture into every new texture directory for correctly rendered nighttime lighting.
  4. Integrate the updated aircraft into your favorite AI flight plans, and you will soon see these Atlas Air carriers taking off and landing within your simulator environment.

Design Considerations

The AI Aardvark 747-200 model is specifically optimized for non-player traffic. It focuses on appearing realistic during arrivals, departures, and terminal positioning. By leveraging several detail levels, the impact on system performance remains minimal, making it ideal for capturing realistic airline movements in dense multiplayer or single-player settings.

This repaint pack does not include the original base model, so download the required AI Aardvark 747-200 GE package from the Fly Away Simulation library prior to installation. Credited to David White for these textures, this mod delivers a comprehensive look at Atlas Air’s classic Boeing 747-200 fleet for effective AI operation in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004.
