This repaint showcases the classic aesthetic of Mexicana de Aviación wrapped around the Boeing 737-800 model in Microsoft Flight Simulator X. Although the airline never operated the 737 in real life, this fictional variant draws inspiration from Mexicana’s early 2000s visual branding and aims to honor the carrier’s historical fleet, which once included Boeing 727, 757, and 767 series aircraft.
Technical Details for This Fictional Livery
Designed by Sigfrido Munguía, this texture set reimagines Mexicana’s recognizable color scheme for a 737-800 airliner. The 737-800 (part of the prolific 737 family) features advanced avionics, enhanced fuel efficiency, and a modern flight deck, which makes it a natural match for enthusiasts who appreciate the longevity of Boeing’s single-aisle jet lineage. Despite being fictional, the repaint aims to capture the feel of Mexicana’s golden era by using design cues reminiscent of the airline’s original imagery.

Important Base Model Requirement
Please note that this package only provides the repainted textures. It does not include the default Boeing 737-800 model from Microsoft. You will need to obtain the original aircraft (provided by Microsoft Flight Simulator X) before applying this livery. The freeware model is also accessible through the Fly Away Simulation mod library if you need a base package.
Step-by-Step Installation
- Unzip the Package: Extract the downloaded file. Inside, you will find a folder named
texture.2000
. - Place the Texture Folder: Move the
texture.2000
directory into your mainBoeing B737_800
folder. In most installations, this path looks like: Program Files/Microsoft Games/Flight Simulator X/Simobjects/Airplanes/Boeing B737_800. - Add to Aircraft Configuration: Open the
aircraft.cfg
file found inside theBoeing B737_800
folder. Copy the code snippet below and paste it directly under the last[fltsim.x]
entry. Then, adjust.XX
to the next available number in sequence (e.g.,[fltsim.6]
if your last entry is[fltsim.5]
).
Use this exact section in your aircraft.cfg
to ensure proper functionality:
[fltsim.XX]

"One should hardly be surprised that the world's most prolific
manufacturer of commercial aircraft is also the producer of the world's
most popular jetliner. The 737 became the best-selling commercial
jetliner worldwide when orders for it hit 1,831 in June 1987
(surpassing Boeing's own 727 as the previous champ). However, it wasn't
always that way\s in the first few years of production, there were so few
orders that Boeing considered canceling the program. They didn't, and the
airplane has more than proven itself in over three decades of service."
Once you save aircraft.cfg
with these changes, the repaint will appear among your available liveries when you load Microsoft Flight Simulator X.

Credits to the Designer
This custom repaint for the Boeing 737-800 is brought to you by Sigfrido Munguía. It reflects a creative approach to capturing Mexicana de Aviación's classic identity, even though the real airline never incorporated the 737 type into its lineup.
