Experience an updated rendition of KISP that transforms the default layout into a far more genuine environment. This freeware release by Jim Cook integrates revised aprons, taxiways, commercial gates, and other key elements for those wanting a faithful representation of the airport in Microsoft Flight Simulator X.
Improved Terminal and Surroundings
The terminal area now reflects real-world gate placements, with dedicated airline zones that mimic the authentic setup at Long Island MacArthur Airport. Each jetway is animated at the commercial stands, which contributes to a seamless immersion when taxiing in or out. Buildings have been replaced for elevated realism, and the air traffic control tower is repositioned to its correct location.
Refined Aprons and Airfield Layout
To ensure a faithful depiction of KISP, this package modifies taxiway routes, contours, and access roads. The overall design captures the unique geometry of Islip’s airport. Aprons have been reshaped, which aligns with reference diagrams and updated online satellite data. Standalone scenery elements including light poles, ground vehicles, and static aircraft complete the busy airport feel.
Compatibility Details
Although this rendition benefits from utilities like Ultimate Terrain and FSGenesis, it does not rely on them. Since every object is derived from stock FSX libraries, there is no need to install extra files. Everything has been cross-checked with AirNav charts and Google Earth imagery for dependable accuracy.
Installation Instructions
Extract the included KISP_AFX_JC.bgl and KISP_JC.bgl files into the “Addon Scenery/Scenery” folder, and then relaunch the simulator. After FSX finishes its scenery reindexing, the newly enhanced airport will be ready.
