COCKPIT is a new PILOT TRAINING package. It allows student-pilots to learn all about instrument flying, radio navigation and IFR. The package consists of a pilot training manual and a software program. The software program contains an instrument simulator, interactive exercises and pre-flight preparation: navigation log maker, mass and balance calculator and conversions calculator.

Learning to become a pilot is a difficult process, as there is a lot to learn. Pilots are bombarded with information from all sides, and navigating it can be extremely difficult without the right training. Even jumping into a conventional flight simulator is difficult without the right training.

Cockpit is designed to provide this training at a level of detail unattainable from written or video material. The training package does this by providing not only written training, but interactive training as well. The training routine does come with a pilot training manual, which contains all the information a prospective pilot would need to learn to fly. However, different people have different minds, which all work in various ways.

Many people learn better by doing, and would rather try equipment hands on then read it from the pages of the manual. For this, the program comes with an instrument panel simulator. This simulator is designed to show how all the instruments work, and allow the pilot in training to simulate a flight and see how the instruments react. The simulated panels are set up to be able to be programmed for any situation, allowing you to witness what happens in the cockpit in a number of different weather and flight emergency situations.

The training program also comes with software designed to help you with preflight checks, giving you a virtual checklist of everything to go over, as well as what constitutes normal and abnormal values on these items. There are also a number of calculators designed to get the pilot in training used to the rigors of preflight checks, including mass calculations and difficult conversions. There is also software included for interactive exercises, to be used as a benchmark of sorts for the progress in the training program. All in all, the training program is excellent for any potential new pilot.
