This freeware release introduces an advanced rendition of the American Airlines Boeing 787-8 (known as the Dreamliner) for FSX, featuring carefully modeled animations, refined visual elements, and improved ground servicing options. This version is developed by CamSim (with aircraft model design and paint work by Camil Valiquette), and it encases numerous enhancements that heighten immersion while preserving performance.

Key Updates and Enhancements

The model incorporates a more accurate wing root structure, which contributes to improved aerodynamic realism. It also integrates upgraded passenger entrances with revised dimensions and window placements, ensuring that fuselage details match real-world references. New satellite and communication fixtures on the upper fuselage offer an expanded level of detail, and the package further refines the Animated Ground Servicing (AGS) components, including more interactive vehicles and cargo handling animations. These refinements provide a robust simulation experience for fans of modern twin-aisle airliners.

Installation Steps

  • Extract all included files into the “Airplane” directory within your main FSX folder.
  • If not already installed, unzip the contents of the “Effects.zip” into the base FSX folder (specifically, these files should be placed in the “Effects” directory). This step is not necessary if you have another aircraft from this developer with AGS already configured.

Animated Ground Servicing (AGS) Details

This package includes AGS to simulate real-world airport turnaround procedures. The following keyboard assignments allow you to activate various animated components:

  • Press Shift + E to open or close the passenger air stairs entrance.
  • Press Shift + E + 2 to open or close the primary passenger door.
  • Press Shift + D to manage the cargo compartments.
  • Press Shift + C to control specialized ground service movements.

Additional commands for wing fold/unfold and tail hook up/down should be configured in FSX under: Options ? Settings ? Controls ? Buttons/Keys ? Change Assignment.

  • Wing fold/unfold: Shift + C
  • Tail hook up/down: Shift + D

Aircraft Notes

The Boeing 787-8, widely recognized for its composite construction and efficient engines, is increasingly popular among long-haul carriers such as American Airlines. Notable for its lower cabin altitude and larger windows, it offers enhanced comfort for both passengers and crew. This replica aims to recreate those real-world qualities, while also presenting an authentic American Airlines livery for FSX enthusiasts. The modifications included in this release—like revised openings and additional animations—serve to enrich the overall authenticity of the Dreamliner experience.

Model design and paint by Camil Valiquette ensure a faithful exterior and interior visual experience, together with accurate animations of ground equipment and control surfaces. Users seeking a modern, efficient wide-body aircraft will appreciate the effort put forth in this add-on, which remains not only thorough in its technical details but also strongly oriented toward immersive simulation.
