Editorial

When I came across this package by Bob Baur and Lynn Rogers, I was very impressed with the attention to detail. I’ll be honest, I don’t think I’d ever seen a crop duster helicopter before until I looked at this mod – you learn something new every day!

I was really impressed by the detail, though, taking this model of the Bell 2015-A-1 and making it look as best as they can. Given it’s for FS2004, the textures are crisp, the model is as smooth as it can be and the scale is right. With the limitations they are working in, the development team has done a great job of making sure it comes together properly.

The paint job on this, by the way, is the Stratford Helicopters Crop Duster. I looked up the livery it is based on and I have to say it’s more or less spot on: yeah, some improvements could be made, but it’s based on FS2004 limitations so I’ll be more than happy to let the developers off with this one!

Ready for Work

What I was really impressed by, though, was the level of animation put into practice by the development team. When mixed in with the Huey sound package that is being used, too, this helps to add that extra “boom” to the sound of the aircraft.

Now, when flying around, you have a crop duster chopper that not only feels nice and comfortable to work with, but also is capable of really replicating the real thing. I never knew anything about this before I grabbed this mod, but now I want to know everything!

A very fine package, and one worth trying out if you are looking for a rendition of the Bell 205-A-1 that is a reflection of a potential domestic duty.
