This enhanced package offers a refined Japan Airlines Airbus A350-900, meticulously developed by CamSim (version 4) and painted by Camil Valiquette. It brings animated ground support vehicles, tilt-adjusted landing gear bogies, and other engaging improvements designed to complement FSX operations seamlessly. Flight simulation enthusiasts seeking a modern wide-body jet with advanced interactive capabilities will appreciate its many technical refinements and realistic airline livery.

Improvements Introduced in Version 4

This latest release includes additional Animated Ground Servicing (AGS) behavior, such as vehicles that attach and detach trailers, as well as static service units for a more immersive airport ramp experience. The main landing gear bogies also feature an updated tilt alignment, which mirrors real-world Airbus A350-900 geometry. These upgrades offer a smooth overall transition during taxiing and on final approach.

Key Technical Highlights

  • Detailed Texturing: The exterior paint, sporting Japan Airlines branding, centers on accuracy down to logo placement and fuselage details. This level of care helps replicate the faithful look of JAL’s Airbus A350.
  • Flight Dynamics: The base model is built to reflect realistic performance traits consistent with the A350 family, ensuring reliable handling through different flight segments.
  • Automated Ground Services: AGS vehicles and equipment provide enhanced immersion, with fully animated ground crew actions when the aircraft is parked.
  • Main Gear Tilt Improvement: Updated tilt geometry on the primary landing gear more closely mirrors the design of the real aircraft, ensuring a visually authentic ramp stance and a smooth touchdown.

Preparation for FSX

Installing this freeware aircraft is straightforward. Carefully follow the recommendations below for a trouble-free process:

  1. Extract the aircraft folder into your “FSX/Airplanes” directory. This step ensures your simulator recognizes the new Airbus model.
  2. If you have not installed any of the CamSim aircraft with AGS before, unzip the included “Effects.zip” file into your main FSX folder. This procedure places the essential night lighting effects in the “Effects” folder and readies them for in-sim use. If you already own another CamSim AGS aircraft, you can safely skip this step.

Activating Ground Handling Animations

This Japan Airlines A350-900 leverages full AGS integration. In order to operate the various hatches, doors, and service equipment, use the following command structure:

Shift + E
Opens/closes the passenger air stairs (door M2).
Shift + E + 2
Controls the passenger front door (M1) and starts FSX ground handling when available.
Shift + D
Toggles the cargo doors for loading or unloading processes.
Shift + C
Triggers AGS vehicles and transitions them into action or returns them to a static position.

For all animations to work correctly, confirm the following assignments in the FSX controls menu under Options > Settings > Controls > Buttons/Keys > Change Assignment:

  • Wing fold/unfold: Assign “Shift + C”
  • Tail hook up/down: Assign “Shift + D”

Additional Notes

This Airbus A350-900 depiction offers an immersive recreation of modern twin-aisle operations within FSX. With Camil Valiquette’s attention to detail, it merges advanced ground animations, a faithful Japan Airlines livery, and flight model accuracy into a single freeware package. It is built entirely for FSX enthusiasts who want to enhance their simulator environment and appreciate having seamless service interactions.
