Enhance your virtual flights into Hannover Airport (EDDV) with this freeware scenery package created by Ray Smith. Featuring updated parking assignments, refined taxiway networks, and a modernized control tower vantage point, this add-on leverages the advanced capabilities of Airport Design Editor (ADE) for compatibility with Microsoft Flight Simulator X. It comes with specialized BGL files that rework ground infrastructure and improve overall realism. Whether you’re conducting short domestic hops or intercontinental journeys, this modification provides a more accurate layout for Germany’s bustling airfield.

Key Technical Adjustments for EDDV

Situated in Langenhagen, Hannover Airport offers a vital hub for leisure and business flights. This download refines its existing configuration by adding more parking ramps and modifying vehicle paths to reduce aircraft congestion. Operators will also notice that ground services have been reorganized, allowing smoother navigation around gates and hangars. The control tower itself has been updated with new viewpoints (including commanding views from the top), a feature that can enhance training scenarios and general observation duties.

Included Files and Their Roles

This enhancement comprises two BGL files:

EDDV_ADE_RS.BGL
Installs the updated airport layout, including refined stands, taxi designations, and more realistic ramp positioning.
EDDV_ADE_OBJ.BGL
Supplies essential objects and scenery details that complement the new layout. These objects help illustrate the control tower, service roads, and other key visual markers.

Placement Directories

  1. Move EDDV_ADE_RS.BGL to the “Addon Scenery/scenery” folder under your main Flight Simulator X installation directory.
  2. Transfer EDDV_ADE_OBJ.BGL to the “Scenery/Global/scenery” folder in the same FSX root directory.
  3. Launch the simulator, and the updates will be immediately active.

Important Compatibility Considerations

  • Use only these two EDDV BGL files. Any existing EDDV .bgl files should be removed to avoid misplaced aircraft parking or scenery conflicts.
  • Confirm that any AI traffic packages do not install competing AFCAD files for Hannover Airport, as duplicate files will create errors.

Reversing the Changes

  1. Erase or remove the downloaded BGL files from their respective folders to revert to the default scenery provided by Microsoft Flight Simulator X.

Enjoy landing and departing from this improved environment, and many thanks to Ray Smith for crafting this freeware upgrade. Safe virtual flying!
