Approach coverage

Adak’s five approach plates are concentrated on a single runway end rather than divided between Runway 05 and 23. The mix includes ILS, localiser, RNAV (GPS) and NDB procedures, providing several different means of reaching that same end, including two ILS and two localiser options. The opposite end has no published approach in this cycle.

Runway layout

The single 7,790 ft asphalt runway provides considerably more distance than a short-strip field, widening the range of aircraft runway requirements it can accommodate. Its 05/23 configuration nevertheless offers only one runway alignment. The airport diagram adds the ground-layout context needed alongside the instrument procedures.
