Approach coverage

Francisco C Ada/Saipan International has two similarly aligned runways, yet published approaches serve only two of their four ends. Instrument coverage is therefore concentrated rather than available for every landing direction. The ILS is the sole precision option, complemented by RNAV (GPS), localiser and NDB procedures. Tinian International, 10 nm south-west, has notably thinner procedure coverage.

Runway layout

Runway 07/25 is 1,698 ft longer than 06/24. The two strips are therefore not interchangeable where required runway distance exceeds 7,001 ft: the 8,699 ft runway extends the usable runway-length envelope considerably. Their close headings mean the second runway adds substantially more choice in available length than in alignment.
