This comprehensive add-on refines the main international gateway in Poland through additional structures, updated parking arrangements, and optional enhanced lighting. It is specifically prepared for Microsoft Flight Simulator X and developed by the talented creator, Lee Marrow. Transmitting an authentic sense of activity on the ground, it modifies the airport’s buildings and cargo areas using mostly default objects, yet skillfully adds fresh life to the entire airfield. Users are strongly encouraged to install separate lighting files (see below) by Jim Dhaenens for an improved night environment.
Improvements for Warsaw’s Primary Airport
Historically called Okecie Airport (IATA: WAW, ICAO: EPWA), this facility is currently known as Warsaw Chopin Airport. It is the busiest airport in Poland, handling both domestic and international operations. This add-on incorporates new airport objects, upgraded vehicle placements, and extra cargo on the ramp, offering virtual pilots a more realistic operational flow. The arrangement of terminals mirrors the real-world layout, and the taxiway routing is fine-tuned to align with authentic airline and cargo procedures.
Included AFCAD Layout
To provide more accurate apron traffic and gate utilization, an updated AFCAD file is bundled. It increases parking gates and ramps to reflect typical airline operations while adding cargo stands for those who enjoy replicating freight runs. Ground vehicles using standard FSX gen objects are placed to populate service roads, and a variety of smaller details brings the environment to life.
Optional Lighting Integration
This freeware scenery uses default textures throughout but gains additional realism from custom lighting by Jim Dhaenens. To experience proper night illumination, acquire his package named fsx_lts.zip. These added lights significantly enhance ramp and runway visibility during low-visibility approaches or nighttime departures.
Easy Installation Process
- Unzip: Extract the WAW_EPWA folder directly into your Addon Scenery directory.
- Activate: Open your simulator’s Scenery Library and add the new folder, or select the “Add Area” button if your configuration requires it.
- Enhance: If you wish to enable the custom night lighting, install fsx_lts.zip by Jim Dhaenens.
Once installed, you will enjoy improved cargo and passenger ramp settings, adjusted jetways, and more dynamic ground vehicle placements. Remember to share any insights or suggestions with the creator, Lee Marrow, who welcomes feedback and ideas to refine the experience further. Thank you for downloading this scenery modification, and enjoy exploring Warsaw’s busiest airport in vivid detail.
