Sand Point’s five approaches serve both ends of its single runway, giving instrument coverage in either runway direction rather than concentrating procedures on one end. The mix of three RNAV (GPS) and two NDB procedures also provides more than one approach type. With only runway 14/32 available, its 5,213 ft length is the maximum runway distance available at the field; there is no second runway offering a different alignment or greater length.
Nelson Lagoon has the broader chart set of the two nearby fields, though its coverage is still markedly thinner than Sand Point’s; Perryville’s is thinner again. The Cold Bay Sectional adds the wider-area VFR depiction not provided by the airport’s terminal procedure charts.
