Aerodesigns’ Airbus A318-111/121 package brings the baby A320 to Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 with extra models, sharp reflective textures, realistic lighting, wing vortex effects, and animated wipers with rain droplets. It includes a fully clickable virtual cockpit, cabin views, maintenance mode, and tuned flight dynamics, and requires Eric Marciano’s A320 panel.
Designed exclusively for enthusiasts of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004, this freeware release from Aerodesigns highlights the smallest member of the Airbus A320 family, the A318. It incorporates enhanced visual elements, refined flight dynamics, and several added features to enrich short- to medium-haul operations. The development team—led by Aviel Nahoum and Derek Mayer, with special contributions from Stijn Van Wees—brings a polished model that caters to virtual pilots who enjoy realistic cockpit procedures and immersive external details, all in a straightforward installation package.
The aircraft model showcases animated control surfaces, reflective skin, and vivid lighting. Furthermore, it boasts wing vortex effects (visible aerodynamic vortices), animated wipers, and animated precipitation droplets on the cockpit windscreen. The flight model relies on Pedro Oliveira’s thorough performance definitions, ensuring dependable handling in various flight phases. Michael Ludkte constructed the master textures, while repaints—created by Aviel Nahoum, Derek Mayer, and Dario Carbone—provide multiple livery options. These liveries capture genuine airline color schemes that represent real-world A318 operators.
A fully clickable virtual cockpit (VC) is included, replicating the primary flight instruments and overhead panels to deliver an accurate Airbus experience. Additionally, a virtual cabin area is provided for those who prefer exploring different passenger viewpoints. The standout detail is the functional wipers that continuously clear the windshield during rainy approaches. This added realism contributes to more authentic flight-deck procedures.
Every A318 package arrives with its own self-guided installer, which attempts to automatically detect the main directory of the 2004 iteration of Microsoft’s simulator. Double-check the detected path before proceeding. If an error occurs, the uninstaller named AD318_Uninstal.exe—placed in your simulator’s root folder—can swiftly remove all associated files, allowing a fresh installation attempt.
Additionally, the installer integrates Eric Marciano’s well-known A320 panel tailored for FS2004. This panel offers comprehensive Airbus system logic, from the electronic flight instrument system to core autopilot inputs, thereby complementing the A318’s detailed cockpit operations.

Beyond visual realism, the model includes a maintenance mode that simulates various aircraft service scenarios. This optional feature allows simmers to experience routine inspections and adjustments for a deeper operational perspective. The integrated flight dynamics also ensure that every phase—from takeoff weight calculations to climb thrust levels—aligns with Airbus guidelines for the A318.
This challenging yet user-friendly package merges authenticity and convenience. Enthusiasts of Airbus operations will find that the suite of animations, distinctive wiper actions, and thorough flight model delivers an enjoyable and educational simulation environment. Developed by the dedicated Aerodesigns team—led by Aviel Nahoum, Derek Mayer, and collaborators—this freeware solution presents a comprehensive Airbus A318 experience for those exploring the skies in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004.
