This freeware repaint offers a carefully crafted Spanish Air Force Fokker F-27 SAR (Search and Rescue) livery designed for Microsoft Flight Simulator X. Created by Antonio Diaz for use with the payware Just Flight F27-200 model, it showcases the subtle grey finish seen on 802 Squadron’s aircraft. This package does not include Just Flight’s payware model, which is required separately, but once installed, it will accurately capture the aircraft’s distinctive features and operational essence.
F27’s Heritage in Military Service
The Fokker F-27 first began flying in the mid-1950s and was powered by Rolls-Royce Dart turboprop engines (an early example of a reliable propjet design). Across numerous nations, including Spain, various military branches utilized this airframe as a dependable transport and maritime search platform. By the time the final unit rolled off the production line, over 580 had been produced. Aer Lingus had the honor of putting the F-27 into commercial service first, yet its adaptability made it a favorite among air forces worldwide.
Spanish Air Force Configuration
Within the Spanish Air Force, the F-27 has undertaken many SAR assignments, frequently operating along coastal regions in conjunction with the 802 Squadron. The configuration presented here mirrors the grey scheme unique to the Spanish SAR role, complete with unit markings and insignia. This livery reflects the aircraft’s role in search and rescue missions, often dispatched to respond to emergency beacons or lost vessels over open water.
Installation Notes and Requirements
To incorporate these textures, it is necessary to possess the Just Flight payware model (F-27-200). Simply add the files as indicated below, ensuring you modify the “XX” in the [fltsim] entry to the next available number within your aircraft.cfg file. Once the repaint is in place, the distinctive Spanish markings will appear in your livery menu within the simulator, enabling you to experience realistic SAR operations in Microsoft Flight Simulator X.
