Should I download the DLL named in the error?
No. InstallShield often extracts the named helper from the FSX package into a temporary support directory. A standalone copy from an unknown source may be the wrong build, may be unsafe, and will not correct damaged installation media or an extraction failure.
Does this fix apply to FSX: Steam Edition?
FSX: Steam Edition does not use the boxed FSX Disc 1 installation process. If Steam itself is installing FSX, use Steam’s file-verification function and rerun the prerequisite installers supplied with the game rather than applying DVD-specific steps.
If 0x80040702 appears while installing an older add-on into FSX: Steam Edition, it belongs to that add-on’s InstallShield package. Re-extract or recopy the add-on installer locally, clear %TEMP%, and run its main setup program as administrator before changing FSX files.
