Which livery file does PMDG Operations Center need?
PMDG Operations Center normally needs an extracted .ptp file, not the ZIP archive supplied by the download library. The ZIP is often only a wrapper containing the livery, documentation and preview images.

How to clear the invalid livery ZIP error
- Close Microsoft Flight Simulator. Installing or replacing an aircraft package while the simulator is running can prevent the new files from being recognised correctly.
- Extract the outer ZIP completely. Use Windows extraction or a trusted archive utility rather than opening the ZIP and passing it directly to Operations Center. If extraction itself reports that the archive is invalid, unexpected or incomplete, follow our ZIP download and extraction checks.
- Show full filename extensions. Confirm that the payload really ends in
.ptp. A file displayed as PTP may actually be named something such aslivery.ptp.zipwhen Windows is hiding known extensions. - Choose the installation method from the contents. Import a genuine PTP through PMDG Operations Center. Install a valid MSFS package in Community instead. Do not feed a Community-package ZIP to the PMDG importer.
- Select the matching simulator and PMDG product. The livery must target the aircraft family and variant you own. A package for another 737 variant, another PMDG aircraft or an older simulator generation may be rejected or installed where it cannot appear.
- Download the archive again if necessary. An interrupted download can still have a ZIP extension while lacking part of its contents. Save the replacement to a normal local folder, extract it afresh and retry with the newly extracted file.
Why is a genuine PTP file still rejected?
A genuine PTP is usually rejected because it is incompatible, damaged or associated with a PMDG product that Operations Center cannot identify. Check these failure points before reinstalling the aircraft:
- Wrong simulator generation: PMDG packages made for FSX or Prepar3D cannot be imported into the Microsoft Flight Simulator aircraft. Do not assume that every MSFS 2020 livery also supports the corresponding MSFS 2024 installation.
- Wrong aircraft or variant: A livery can be tied to a specific model, fuselage or expansion package even when the aircraft names look similar.
- Outdated Operations Center data: Allow Operations Center to complete any offered updates, then confirm that it recognises the installed PMDG aircraft.

- Badly created livery package: If a fresh download is rejected despite matching the exact simulator, aircraft and variant, the package itself may need to be rebuilt by its author. Unpacking or renaming it will not repair its internal metadata.
Why does the livery not appear after the error is fixed?
Once the installer accepts the livery, a missing paint scheme is usually a package-location or aircraft-variant problem rather than a ZIP problem. Restart MSFS, select the exact PMDG model targeted by the livery and remove any duplicate copy installed by a different method.

Can PMDG livery ZIPs be installed on console?
Web-downloaded ZIP and PTP liveries cannot be installed directly on Xbox or PlayStation because console users cannot access the simulator's package folders or run PMDG Operations Center. Console liveries must be delivered through supported in-simulator content channels; transferring the archive from a PC does not make it installable.
