How do I install Logitech/Saitek panels in MSFS 2020?

Adam McEnroe
In short

Install and use the Logitech/Saitek Pro Flight Panels plug-in in MSFS 2020, with driver order, setup steps and fixes for blank or undetected panels.

To install Logitech/Saitek Pro Flight Panels in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020, install each panel’s Windows driver first, then Logitech’s MSFS Flight Panels plug-in. Connect the panels, start MSFS 2020, allow the plug-in to run if prompted, and test them in a powered default aircraft; normal panel controls require no in-sim bindings.

These instructions apply to MSFS 2020 on PC. Xbox cannot run the Windows helper application required by the official plug-in. Older Saitek-branded and newer Logitech-branded Multi, Radio and Switch Panels belong to the same hardware family.

How do I install the MSFS 2020 Flight Panels plug-in?

  1. Close MSFS 2020. Disconnect the panels if their driver installer asks you to do so. Remove an obsolete FSX or Prepar3D panel plug-in if it is launching alongside the MSFS version, but do not remove working product drivers unnecessarily.
  2. Install the correct Windows driver. Use the official, product-specific driver for each panel rather than assuming Windows’ automatic USB detection is sufficient. Our clean Logitech/Saitek driver installation procedure for Windows 11 covers driver selection, old-software removal and USB detection.
  3. Install Logitech’s Microsoft Flight Simulator plug-in. Choose the package specifically intended for MSFS, not a legacy FSX or Prepar3D plug-in. Run the installer with the simulator closed and restart Windows if requested. The Microsoft Store and Steam editions of MSFS 2020 use the same basic plug-in method.
  4. Connect the panels. Prefer motherboard USB ports or a good powered USB hub, especially when using several illuminated panels. A passive hub can detect a panel while still failing to supply enough power for reliable displays.
  5. Start MSFS and the Logitech helper. Depending on the plug-in package, its helper may start with the simulator or be launched from a shortcut installed on the PC. Approve it if Windows or MSFS asks whether the external program may run.
  6. Test a default aircraft. Load a simple stock aircraft such as the Cessna 172, then switch on its battery, alternator and avionics. Test the panel before installing alternative mapping software or diagnosing compatibility with a complex add-on.

The separate Flight Instrument Panel with the colour LCD requires its own product-specific driver and software as well. Do not assume that installing the Multi, Radio and Switch Panel plug-in alone will drive that display.

Do Logitech panels appear in MSFS Controls Options?

The main panel functions generally are not assigned through MSFS 2020’s Controls Options screen. The Logitech helper communicates with the simulator through SimConnect and converts hardware actions into standard simulator events.

  • The Radio Panel selects COM, NAV, ADF, DME or transponder functions; its knobs tune values and the transfer button swaps active and standby frequencies where supported.
  • The Multi Panel controls standard autopilot modes and selected altitude, heading, vertical speed, indicated airspeed or course.
  • The Switch Panel sends the positions of its battery, alternator, lighting, fuel-pump and magneto controls where the aircraft supports the corresponding standard events.

A latching hardware switch can disagree with the cockpit when a flight first loads. Move the physical switch once to send its actual position rather than repeatedly changing assignments in MSFS.

Why is my Logitech Flight Panel blank or not working?

A blank panel usually points to USB power, a missing helper process, the wrong plug-in or an unpowered aircraft rather than a control-binding problem.

Will the plug-in work with add-on aircraft?

The official plug-in works best with aircraft that use standard MSFS autopilot, radio and electrical events. Complex add-on aircraft may use custom variables or internal systems, so individual buttons, displays or annunciators can remain inactive even though the panel works correctly with default aircraft.

Always retest with a stock aircraft before reinstalling drivers. If the hardware works there, the remaining issue is aircraft compatibility or custom event mapping; our guide to using the Logitech Multi Panel with add-on aircraft explains profiles, custom events and duplicate-software conflicts.
