Configure a Logitech Pro Flight Switch Panel in MSFS 2020 or 2024 with the right software, setup order, testing steps and fixes.
To configure a Logitech Pro Flight Switch Panel in Microsoft Flight Simulator on PC, connect it by USB, install the correct Logitech driver and MSFS plug-in or companion software for your simulator version, restart Windows, then test it in a default aircraft. The panel is normally configured outside MSFS, not in Controls Options.
Which software does the Logitech Switch Panel need?
The panel needs a software bridge that converts its physical switches into simulator events. It may still receive USB power without that bridge, but its switches and landing-gear indicators will not communicate correctly with Microsoft Flight Simulator.
| Simulator | Software needed | Key point |
|---|---|---|
| MSFS 2020 | Logitech/Saitek driver and the MSFS panel plug-in | Follow our MSFS 2020 driver and plug-in installation sequence. |
| MSFS 2024 | A compatible Logitech panel companion or bridge package | Do not assume an older MSFS 2020 plug-in will work unchanged; use our MSFS 2024 connection and software checks. |
Older units may carry Saitek branding rather than Logitech branding. They are the same product family, but installers and Windows device entries may use either name.
How do I configure the Switch Panel step by step?
- Use a Windows PC. The panel depends on Windows drivers and companion software. It is not a standard console controller.
- Close Microsoft Flight Simulator. Also close any existing panel utilities before installing or updating the driver. Two bridge applications controlling the same panel can cause flickering switches, repeated commands or incorrect indicator lights.
- Install the matching software. Use the package intended for MSFS 2020 or MSFS 2024 and follow its prompts about when to connect the panel. Restart Windows after installation.
- Connect the panel directly. Start with a rear motherboard USB port rather than an unpowered hub. Once the panel works reliably, it can be moved to a powered hub if required.
- Start the bridge and simulator. Some Logitech software launches with Windows; other packages must be opened manually. Confirm that it remains running after MSFS starts.
- Load a default aircraft. Test the battery, avionics and lighting switches first. Use a default retractable-gear aircraft to test the gear lever and indicators; fixed-gear aircraft cannot provide a meaningful gear test.
- Check for duplicate inputs. If a switch changes state twice or immediately moves back, inspect your joystick, yoke and keyboard profiles. Our guide to checking MSFS device detection and control profiles explains how to find conflicting assignments.
Set the physical battery, avionics and lighting switches to sensible positions before loading the flight. A panel utility may synchronise those positions with the aircraft, so an overlooked physical switch can turn a cockpit system off immediately after loading.
Why does the Switch Panel not appear or respond in MSFS?
It is normal for the Logitech Pro Flight Switch Panel not to appear as a bindable controller under Controls Options. Unlike a conventional joystick, it usually sends commands through its plug-in or companion application.
- No switches work: confirm that Windows detects the USB device and that the correct bridge is running.
- The panel disconnects randomly: try a direct USB connection, a powered hub or another port. Windows USB power saving can also suspend the relevant hub.
- The gear lights remain blank: test with a default retractable-gear aircraft. The indicators depend on aircraft telemetry and are not a simple USB power light.
- Commands repeat or flicker: close duplicate panel utilities and remove conflicting controller bindings.
- It stopped after a simulator update: reinstall or update the panel bridge that matches that MSFS generation rather than repeatedly changing in-simulator bindings.
If those checks do not isolate the problem, use our panel-specific fault checklist for USB, drivers and indicator lights.
Can the switches be remapped, and will the panel work on console?
The standard Logitech software normally assigns each labelled control to its corresponding simulator event. For different functions, per-aircraft profiles or complex add-on aircraft, use compatible third-party panel middleware and disable the Logitech bridge so both applications do not send commands together.
Some complex aircraft use custom electrical, lighting or engine-start logic rather than standard MSFS events. In that case the panel can be installed correctly while individual switches—often the magneto, avionics, de-ice or cowl controls—still do nothing. A custom aircraft profile or script is then required.
The Logitech Pro Flight Switch Panel is intended for Windows PC. The Xbox and PlayStation editions of Microsoft Flight Simulator cannot run its Windows driver or panel bridge, so connecting the panel by USB alone does not provide supported console operation.
