Procedure coverage

Cold Bay’s eight approach plates serve three of its four runway ends, leaving one end without a published instrument approach. The mix of ILS, RNAV (GPS), VOR and localiser procedures provides several forms of guidance rather than relying on a single approach type. Nearby King Cove has markedly thinner procedure coverage, with four published charts.

Runways and VFR context

The 10,179-ft runway 15/33 is more than twice the length of 08/26, making runway-length planning strongly dependent on alignment: a requirement above 4,900 ft rules out 08/26. The Cold Bay Sectional adds the broader VFR context around the airport that is outside the terminal procedures and airport diagram.
